Museum of Ginger Wizards[edit]

In this edit, User:213.18.146.141 added "The Museum of Ginger Wizards". Perhaps unsurprisingly, I can't find any mention whatever of this (other than a myriad wikipedia copies), so I'm going to remove it. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 23:33, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)

List of Museums[edit]

This list is a bit out of date and features museums that are now closed. Should these be moved to the defunct museums section or is this list being preserved as it is representing all museums in Scotland both past and current? Macfack (talk) 16:25, 1 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please move museums that are closed to the defunct section and add a reference that identifies the closure. Many defunct museums often remain on other websites, so this will help keep the list current. Thank you so much! Jllm06 (talk) 01:55, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion on removal of some non-museum venues on this list[edit]

There are several venues included on this list that don't fit with the ICOM definition of a museum which is what is used to characterise what is included on the list. Specifically there are art galleries included that are exhibition spaces but contain no permanent collection items which is a key component of what defines a museum. Similarly there are science centres included which are primarily visitor attractions with educational science content but no collection items.

I'd like to propose removing these types of venues from the list but would welcome discussion. (talk) 10:47, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

With no objections I've begun the removal of these venues. Macfack (talk) 14:50, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
