HA! Well done uptight censors, you've failed again. I'm glad wikipedia evidently favour the collection of knowledge over pandering to a minority's pathetic over-sensitivity. Anyoen know what grounds they tried to get it deleted on?

uh, what's crapcore and why is it in here? --Evesummernight 17:00, 17 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Genre[edit]

I was reading all the bickering about genres below so I asked my husband, Seth Putnam, what genre he would put AxCx into, to which he replied, "Anal Cunt started as a blurcore (a term I made up years before AxCx was around) band, then over the years we turned into a fast hardcore band. The term grindcore is totally gay. Nit-picking about genre terms is totally gay also." Mrs. FactFinder (talk) 05:26, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[1][reply]

Unfortunately bands and band members are not reliable sources regarding the genres of their own bands; this is particularly obvious in this case, as the term was invented by Seth himself. This might sound a bit counter-intuitive, but it is basically becase Wikipedia is interested in verifiability not truth. Anyone could make up a term for their own music (I've seen bands making up things like "razorgrind" etc.), but that doesn't make the terms notable or a legitimate genre. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 14:03, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AC isn't a grindcore band. Their vocals don't fit the grindcore bill, there is no death metal influence in their music, and there aren't enough drastic tempo changes. They are much more akin to Dropdead or Siege or other power violence bands than to grindcore acts such as Napalm Death. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.167.60.43 (talk) 16:35, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It entirely depends on what you can source; opinion is not important. I don't think there's any need for death metal influences in grind, but if you can find me a reliable source saying otherwise, then that should certainly be taken over to the grindcore page. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 18:38, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

youre right, theyre early shit is noisegrind, later stuff is more grindcore there should be no death metal influences in death metal youre probably thinkin of napalm deaths metal period Axcxrule91 (talk) 01:14, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Grindcore is a punk genre, not metal. Later a genre came about called "technical grindcore" which is metalcore influenced grindcore and that can be said to be a metal & crossover influenced genre, but originally grindcore was sloppy, DIY extreme punk. Technical grindcore emphasized playing ability, the antithesis of the earliest grindcore which emphasized a punk mentality and aesthetic (like Carcass, Electro Hippies, etc). 67.5.157.83 (talk) 09:24, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Grindcore has been a metal genres since the 90's. At a certain point everyone realizes that there's a schism between punky grindcore, which is rare, and metallic grind. Also, technical grind isn't a genre, and "metalcore influenced grindcore" is just a forced way of making "mathcore" sound less dumb.Karen_Carpentry (talk) 00:59, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Anal Cunt does employ for the most of the time grindcore, wait, what am I saying? Their grindcore style is compromised of almost all of the 90's demo to their newest album; except for the "Picnic of Love" album--which is a mixture of: comedy rock, neo-folk, folk, and even grindcore is employed on it, for a small amount on the album. Their early work was noisecore, noise-grind and hardcore punk. They didn't add grindcore yet, not until the demo,"Morbid Florist." I do hear some elements of death-grind though but only in a small way. Honestly, they're a metal band, technically--yes and no. Yes, grindcore is in both metal and punk. It's the part on the vocals in how they are structurally apply it to their music then they are not metal at all, they are mostly along the lines with punk than that of metal. Furthermore, Anal Cunt is one of those bands that we don't know if they're serious or a joke and if they are actually metal or not. Seriously, I doubt even the band Anal Cunt would say that they're in a metal band, but that is just me though, however. panicpack121 13:07, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Irony/Serious?[edit]

Are they just being űber ironic, or are they seriously this fucking weird? I mean, I know that lots of bands write ironic songs ("Kill The Poor" by Dead Kennedys, for example), so, are these guys just taking that a step further, for shock value and pure outrageousness, or are they really homophobic dinks?

I think you're reading too much into it man. I don't pretend to know what the guys in the band really intended, but i'm pretty sure it's just supposed to be funny. I mean, 'Your Kid Committed Suicide Because You Suck'??? I'm sorry, but that's funny. it's supposed to make you laugh.Vance trrriplehorn 23:31, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

How can you possibly think that's funny? This sounds like the worst band that has ever existed and I can't believe that people actually like it. Death loving satanists... I propose this article be deleted immediately.

Your accusations are virtually groundless. They are not 'the worst band that has ever existed', since that is a PERSONAL OPINION that has no place in a damned encyclopedia. Secondly, they're not 'Satanists', Satanism implies the belief in and worshipping of either the Christian entity of Satan, the views and morales of LaVeyen Satanists, or the various hodgepodge cults that refer to themselves as 'Satanists'. Anal Cunt do not fit either of these descriptions, and are thus, not Satanists. They already tried to delete this article once, it failed. So get down off your pompous throne and accept the fact that the world is not as pretty and wholesome as you think. We need offensive culture in order to develope our own opinions. Without offensive rebellion, we would not have the great works of art, nor the cultural monuments we have. And while Anal Cunt are certainly no work of art, they're a credible musical group with an impressive discography, and we should not chastise them on the basis of their lyrical content. I find overtly Christian bands who encourage violence against non-Chrisitans offensive, but do you see me running around bitching about it? NO! So shut up and go eat some Prozac or something. Deadcrowisland (talk) 20:52, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you could read an interview [1] from around the time It Just Gets Worse came out and draw your own conclusion. Seth Putnam admits to being "totally drunk" during the interview, though, so who knows... Slicing 22:33, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
And here's another one from 1997 [2] where he comes across completely differently, and even explains their usage of the word "gay" Slicing 08:09, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say its for shock value.

id say serious becuase i mean if they were kidding like GWAR they would come out and say it was a Satire like GWAR

They don't say it because that takes the fun out of it. Internet trolls don't tell everyone that they're trolls and that they're acting like complete jackasses just for a laugh, because then everyone would know.
Ok, you say they aren't the "worst band in the world"? Well guess what! Thats what they call themselves! Discuss. —π₰₯ ĬLʡ$Φǚɭђµπt₴ŗ ₯₰π 10:21, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay this article doesn't site any references to any interviews where Putnam blatantly says the intention of the band is to be as noisy and heavy as possible. The article doesn't mention anything about Vaginal Jesus either. Vaginal Jesus is a white supremacist band that signed to resistence. Putnam has 'played' this group apparently but evidence might suggest that it is actually his band and that he's taking the piss with it. So it would be nice if there were some mention of this on the site.

Feel free to add in references where you see fit, and feel free to add in referenced Vaginal Jesus information. MrMoustacheMM (talk) 00:51, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Metal?[edit]

Why are these guys considered metal? Noisecore is not metal. It's just noise.--SonicTailsKnuckles 19:51, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They're not noisecore, they're considered grindcore, and are therefore considered metal. DeadcrowIsland 05:02. 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Grindcore is not metal. It is an extreme form of hardcore punk.

Listen to any grind band of the last 20 years and tell me that isn't metal. You can'tKaren_Carpentry (talk) 00:59, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it has its roots in both metal and in punk. There are some more punk-oriented grind bands, and some more metal-oriented bands.

Grindcore is somewhat influenced by Metal, but to call it a Metal sub-genre would be extremely inaccurate. Either way, Anal Cunt aren't a Metal band whatsoever. X-pert74 01:22, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why doesn't any body believe that they are serious and that they are messing with you by thinking they are fakes and also to say that they live normal lives is stupid. The only way Seth Putnam lives an ordinary life is if drug overdoses happen to everyone. This band means every word they say. They mean every single word they say and get a kick out of watching you guys argue about it. I have talked to Seth I know.

Okay that's highly debatable. They don't 'mean every word they say' because they're always contradicting themselves. Making racist statements on one hand and then claiming that everyone in Anal Cunt is dumb or being ignorant is awesome. I agree that no one should debate the meaning of an A.C. song. They're all meant to be funny and absurd.

A comment[edit]

anal cunt: 1, christian would-be wikipedia-censors: 0 - This comment was added by anon IP 69.250.94.172 on 24 May 2006 following the 'keep' consensus on AfD. What is the use of this group? There is no scence in their existence and in their songs, but they are really cool!

The name comes from a GG Allen song, "anal cunt".

Actually, GG Allin got the name for that song from AC

I love that Carcass spoof "Abomination of Unnecessarily Augmented Composition Monikers". Better yet is "I Snuck A Retard Into A Spermbank". Ha ha

Copyright Violation? wot?[edit]

The least you could do is clarify what/where the "Relapse" page is. That tag is a completley blown up over-reaction to something so small imho. --80.227.58.13 19:09, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wtf? There is nothing on this Talk Page to explain the copyright violation notice. $10 says someone thought they'd get a cheap thrill by putting it up. WepV 16:14, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion[edit]

Who deleted the page, and why? The previous discussion ended with a decision to keep the article.

Who keeps deleting the important Anal Cunt tribute band paragraph? it's important that the world knows that "On 7 September 2008, EM and Mickmox (fomer Grunt Truck guitarist and vocalist) formed an Anal Cunt tribute band called Arse Minge, playing Anal Cunt's hits on a Spanish guitar and a lute in a very conservative style. When playing private gigs for their parents, they go under the moniker "Bum Peewee", and when playing before mixed US and British audiences, to give the fans a Transatlantic linguistic joke, they call themselves "Fanny Fanny". Their debut EP, to be released on Earache in the October 2008 is called 'Big Anal Cunt Right Up Your Anal Cunt, ALL The Hits of Anal Cunt', and is likely to be a big seller. There will follow a small world tour, ending at Wansted Town Hall in early 2009."

The goddam straights who can't cope with this, and are out there to sensor any info they can't handle should f off and get a damn life, man.

Where next?[edit]

I think they'd be funnier (and more offensive) if they did a pop album, because of the mismatch between form and content. Chris Henniker 03:19, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Haha dude they totally did. Its called picnic of love. Its awesome. 75.163.135.192 (talk) 23:27, 1 May 2008 (UTC) 'GREATEST GRINDCORE BAND EVER - FODAL'- what does this mean at the top...also does anyone know what label they are with now? and i think they have released some stuff scince 2001[reply]

Yeah, they're on Menace to Sobriety records.

Isn't the band From Boston and not Alaska?

Make a song called "Wikipedia sucks." And "Gangsta High School Kids Can Lick My Sack."

Name Dropped[edit]

Should name dropped bands be added to the page or let out. Some bands name dropped have been Korn in "You Rollerblading Faggot" and Marilyn Manson "You Robbed A Sperm Bank Because You're A Cum Guzzling Fag". So would this count as ridicule or just a simple name drop.

Don't they use it like "you suck because you listen to Korn"? If so I would say that counts as ridicule Seizurebot1011 22:32, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Connor Clapton (etc)[edit]

Noisegrind[edit]

Find a reliable source for this as a reference, or please stop editing this article to replace grindcore with noisegrind. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 01:21, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

REPLY: and find a reliable source for anal cunt being a grindcore. you're just denying existence of genre 'noisecore'. thought anal cunt is known to be 'inventors' of it. there are some differences between noisecore and grindcore, u know? anyway, there is even 'nosiecore' tag in first sentence of article... 213.199.204.178 (talk) 10:29, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Their early material contained no written lyrics???[edit]

This sentence makes no sense. I'd edit it, but I don't actually understand what the author is trying to convey - did they have "unwritten" lyrics? Or no lyrics at all? 89.242.88.175 (talk) 22:21, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

REPLY: I am fairly certain that it means that prior to recording, no lyrics were written. Basically it means to convey that their original early works were very much impromptu. If I have this wrong, I hope the original author can correct me.

My edits to "Criticism"[edit]

Hey Folks, I've just joined the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Fact_and_Reference_Check project and stumbled across the article here. I wanted to explain my edits, particularly to the Criticism section

First, I just want to say had never heard of Anal Cunt before I got here. I removed several controversial statements that were not backed up by citation in this section. Particularly, the photograph of people saluting is WP:PRIMARY in that you have to interpret it. There is no context in a photograph and they do not generally meet the standards of WP:RS. I changed the general statement about them being criticized to be specific to the citation used since I also could not find anyone who criticized them. I also removed the statement that the lead singer coined the term "Blurcore". I could find no reference and the cite has been there for a month so there has been ample opportunity to find something. Again, feel free to put it back if you can find something that I didn't find.

I must say that I find this article overly long and would hope that the main contributors here would trim it down significantly. Uwishiwazjohng (talk) 06:22, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of parodies[edit]

I see that this was replaced once again... can I please recommend people thinking of restoring it a) read WP:LAUNDRY, and b) don't. The article is way too long as it is, and crufty lists like this add nothing of benefit to the encyclopedia. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 14:09, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The picture for the article is from 1993, and only contains one of the band members. Also, Seth looks like he's bent over the amp taking it up the ass. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.128.42.6 (talk) 02:36, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK. And? MrMoustacheMM (talk) 18:18, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Broken up[edit]

So, I have yet to see a source say that Anal Cunt have actually broken up. For all we know, Tim and Josh plan on continuing the band in some form or another. For all we know, they have broken up. But until there's a source stating one way or the other, I see no reason to assume that they have (many bands continue on after a key member dies...for example, Decapitated (band)).
