1962[edit]

It was a very good year. :)Bjones 01:09, 5 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

servus Roland2,

there are moves by Users to move the current article Trentino-South Tyrol to Trentino-Alto Adige. Isn't the english translation of Südtirol/Alto Adige = South Tyrol? Maybe you care to take a look and give some comments what you think? mfg Gryffindor 00:02, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hab' eine Anmerkung gemacht, bin nämlich kein Experte ;-) Soweit ich mich auskenne, sind die angeführten Argumente alle richtig. --Roland2 00:53, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Translation of sv:Hambo (dans)[edit]

I have tried to do a translation of sv:Hambo (dans) to English - Hambo. Magol

Categorization[edit]

Hi Roland2; I've noticed that you're adding a lot of articles to the "Medicine" category that don't belong. There are sub categories for articles like Apelin (which actually belongs in some biochem category) and Airway obstruction. Please try to avoid putting articles in the top-level categories. --CDN99 21:38, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I'll try to be more specific. --Roland2 21:42, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikification[edit]

hi, it is good to see you wikifying or adding wikify tag for articles such as Chloé. Please also consider looking for potential copvios. In that article, it was clearly indicated to the effect that it was a copyvio from a particular website. When you see such aricles, please slap a copyvio tag on them. Thanks, --Gurubrahma 12:59, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I missed this article but I tagged those with copyvio. --Roland2 17:57, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I also found Bourbourg, but I wouldn't expect you to have found this one unless you were looking for it. Editors miss articles like these all the time, so don't feel bad. However, it would be a huge help if editors checked for copyvios before adding the wikify tag. The majority of the articles in Category:Articles that need to be wikified are copyright violations. I'd suggest searching for some of the text from the middle of a sentence in Google to see if anything comes up. It shouldn't be too long, but long enough or unique enough so that there aren't too many results to go through. The introductory sentences and the beginning of sentences are often changed, so it is usually better not to include them in the search. If you want to get more sophisticated, there are some hints here (near the bottom). A surprising number of copyright violations give the source of the copyright violation at the top or bottom of the article (Bob Mullan for example). A few have the word "copyright" right in the article. Let me know if I can be of assistance. -- Kjkolb 07:47, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Meanwhile I've found http://www.copyscape.com/ ... and it seems there are more articles violating copyrights than someone would assume. Thanks for the link to the hints --Roland2 08:38, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Limon Dance CopyVio[edit]

Hi, I happen to know that the person who submitted the Limon information works for the Limon dance company and added. I encourged them to add something about Jose Limon to wiki. Is there something I can suggest they do if they want to release that copy to wiki or gpl, or make it free or whatever (I'm obviously not up on the legal lingo)? Thanks --Paraphelion 08:25, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, fine that this does not seem to be a copyviolation. I've copied your input to Talk:José Limón. Let's move the discussion to Talk:José Limón ... --Roland2 08:50, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Have a look at Wikipedia:Confirmation_of_permission. --Gurubrahma 09:28, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

latin[edit]

apologies if it seemed abrupt, but in the grand scheme of things, how important is the Latin Wikipedia? not very. perseus is among the best, but there are dozens of excellent websites in and on the language. and there's a nicely highlighted box for la: already. —Charles P. (Mirv) 22:19, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

copyvio at Time-sharing[edit]

Roland, please do not use automated tools to mark copyright violations without checking to see which direction the copy has taken place. Time-sharing is not a copyvio: there was plenty of history on the Wikipedia page, the other website had copied the disambig notice "see also time share" - as well as other articles, netstumber.com is obviously a typo trap and not a real website, the article was completely unformatted, etc. I have reverted the copyvio and taken off the notice.

I also noticed that another copyvio of yours was reverted: the original author of Bavarian Schuhplattlers of Edmonton wrote their webpage also. I know your intentions are good, but if you're going to take the effort to mark copyvios please take a little more effort to verify them. Thanks, --Geoffrey 02:15, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message[edit]

Is there a talk page for the members of the Wiki dance project? I was also wondering if there were any established 'templates', if you will, on creating pages on ballets. I wnet to send you an email, but it said that you dont have an email registered Mrlopez2681 21:10, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

article rename[edit]

hello Roland2,

you once voiced your interest in the article name's "Trentino-South Tyrol" if I am not mistaken. A discussion has started on the article "Bozen-Bolzano", a user wants to change the name to "Bolzano-Bozen". The vote has started already, maybe you care to drop by and give your opinion? Thank you.

sincerely

Expansion of "Dance in Europe and North America"[edit]

Hello, Roland2 -- thanks for your work on the Dance portal. I recently did some expansion of the Dance article, in regards to the history of ballet (under "Dance in Europe and North America"), as the section was lacking in terms of content and detail. I hope it is appropriate -- I was wondering if you would be so kind as to look at it and give me feedback. Thank you! Emmegan 14:32, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Latin username[edit]

Factum est! Nunc Rolandus es. Adam Bishop 17:50, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, I'm not sure...maybe you need to clear your cache? Or did you create the new username first, before asking me to change your old one? Adam Bishop 20:35, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, you shouldn't have to create it, you should just simply exist as Rolandus now. All your contributions are listed under Rolandus now, so it should work fine. I don't know what the problem is...I'll see if I can find an answer. Adam Bishop 20:42, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That is weird. What happens if you create Usor:Rolandus? Adam Bishop 20:56, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, sorry about that - you have your adminship back. I don't know what happened, all your edits moved over to the new name properly. Adam Bishop 01:31, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again (maybe you want to remove the admin rights from my old account). --Roland2 19:54, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Contemporary ballet[edit]

Hi there, Roland2 -- Emmegan again, with another bothersome dance question! I noticed that, when you were making the list of wanted articles on WikiPortal Dance, you included a request for an article on 20th century ballet. I've just written an article on Contemporary ballet, and I've mentioned Balanchine's neo-classical style in it (albeit briefly -- I hope that this is only the first of many incarnations for this article!). I don't know what you were looking for in an article on "20th century ballet", but the development of contemporary ballet, along with Balanchine neoclassicism, certainly represents the second half of the 20th century. If you'd be so kind as to take a look at the article and reply on my talk page, that would be fantastic! Thanks so much, Emmegan 02:42, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the REAL name: Trentino-Alto Adige[edit]

So I did some research and checked with some pretty credible sources as to what they print, in ENGLISH, for the name of this region (and province) in Italy.

  • Fodor's - a well recognized and respected name (and expert guide) has regional and local publications that show the region and local names of "Trentino-Alto Adige", "Alto Adige", and "Bolzano".
  • Michelin - also expert in travel guides - has regional and local publications that show the region and local names of "Trentino-Alto Adige", "Alto Adige", and "Bozen".
  • Rand McNally (name speaks for itself) has world, regional, and local publications that show the region and local names of "Trentino-Alto Adige", "Alto Adige", and "Bolzano".
  • Streetwise Map's regional, and local publications show the region and local names of "Trentino-Alto Adige", "Alto Adige", and "Bolzano".
  • Dorling Kindersley or "DK" - by far, probably the best travel guides available - has regional and local publications that show the region and local names of "Trentino-Alto Adige", "Alto Adige", and "Bolzano".
  • Lonely Planet (the self-proclaimed largest independently-owned travel guide) regional, and local publications show the region and local names of "Trentino-Alto Adige", "Alto Adige", and "Bolzano".
  • Hammond Map - a subsidiary of Langenscheidt Publishing Group (a privately-held German publishing company) - has regional and local publications that show the region and local names of "Trentino-Alto Adige", "Alto Adige", and "Bolzano".

As far as proof, I am quite sure that the above sources are credible enough, especially in the sense of geographical knowledge, expertise, and English-translation. Rarelibra 03:55, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reporting technical problems[edit]

{{helpme}} (From Wikipedia:Help_desk#Reporting_technical_problems)

Since yesterday we are having technical problems in the Latin Wikipedia. Some/many talk pages are not displayed, I mean, they are displayed blank, there is not even a navigation on the top. See la:Vicipaedia:Taberna#Blank_talk_pages.

To whom should we report this problem? Thanks! --Roland2 08:22, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It sounds like you might want to put in a bug report at bugzilla. Raven4x4x 08:35, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the hint. I've reported that as a bug, however, I does not look like a bug in the software, it looks like a temporary problem with the database, cache or so. So no coding bug, but something for the server admins or database admins. --Roland2 09:04, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Austria Invitation[edit]

Hello, Roland! I'd like to call your attention to the WikiProject Austria and the German-speaking Wikipedians' notice board. I hope their links, sub-projects and discussions are interesting and even helpful to you. If not, I hope that new ones will be.
