abuse in special ed[edit]

I think that the abuse in special education is very important to include in this article. lots of students have reported abuse and I feel that there should be more information on the abuse and overuse physical restraint of students. Whippersnapper12345 (talk) 19:15, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Seclusion rooms[edit]

students at school are often being locked in what are called seclusion rooms as punishment.

Although we may not do a very good job of managing the US-centric bias in this article, information that is only about the US (or in this case, one small part of the US) should probably be considered for Special education in the United States, rather than the worldwide article.

If you decided to write something about seclusion, then I suggest writing about the whole 'story': Why they exist, what benefits were expected, what the prior practice was, etc. That includes naming effective alternatives. As in: if a special-needs teen is having a violent moment and isn't allowed to go into a quiet room by themselves to calm down, what exactly is the school supposed to do to prevent harm to all the other students and staff in the building? changing the name of the padded cell article[edit]
