Portal:Cricket

Since this page was removed from VfD by SPUI as it was invalid, and since there was a lot of concern about having the page at Cricket (portal) or at Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Cricket, I have been bold and moved it to Portal:Cricket. This should make it crystal clear to anyone looking at the page that it is not an article of itself, and neither is it an administrative portal. It is a reader-portal. May we have more of them! All suggestions for improvements welcomed! jguk 09:34, 1 May 2005 (UTC)

New Namespace

After reading over the issues raised with the new cricket portal, something occurred to me. In the main namespace there are two (at least) kinds of pages: pages that are encyclopedia articles, which provide content, and pages which help you find articles, which help you navigate. It would make sense to me to create a namespace for all these navigation articles. This namespace would include IMHO: Portals, disambiguation pages, all the "list of..." pages. Just a thought I came up with. Matt 13:28, 2 May 2005 (UTC)

As it turns out, you're not the only one. Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Portal:Cricket. JRM · Talk 15:18, 2005 May 2 (UTC)

Self references

First of all, I don't know why the the discussion page for Portal:Cricket is redirecting me here to Wikipedia talk:Wikiportal/Cricket/Archive2 but it's late and I'll investigate in the morning. Anyway, I think the reference to the WikiProject should be removed. I think this portal is an excellent idea and I hope this will be extended to other subjects. However, it should not solicit readers to become Wikipedia editors; that is inappropriate. — Knowledge Seeker 08:34, 18 May 2005 (UTC)
