High denominations[edit]

I have found your pages about Philippine currency very informative and detailed. However, there is no description given for the P500 bill. Just for your information, there are in circulation 1,000-peso bills, 300,000 pieces of a special 2,000-peso bank note commemorating the Philippine's centennial (1898-1998), and I've heard, a very limited 100,000-peso legal tender.

From the smallest denomination to the Php 1,000 bill, the sizes have consistently been 161mm x 66mm. Only with the Php 2,000 bill did this change into a larger 216mm x 133mm. I have never seen the supposed Php 100,000 bill but my guess is that it's also huge.

100,000 peso note[edit]

Please note that these comments are misleading:

However, the Records is wrong. 10,000 Singapore dollar and Brunei dollar (equal value) notes have always been higher than 100,000 piso and they have existed since 1967. A 500,000 Thai baht note issued in 2000 commemorating the golden wedding anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Sirikit.

The reference that the 100,000-peso note is the largest note refers to size, not necessarily to denomination or value of the note.

And another note, please leave these types of comments on the talk page, not on the article itself. --Sky Harbor 19:39, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Very well. My apologies. --Chochopk 23:18, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:ImagePhp bill 2000 back.JPG[edit]

Image:ImagePhp bill 2000 back.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Oblation[edit]

Why is the Oblation singled out for the overprints? I remember there were commemorative overprints for World Youth Day in 2000, as well as other events. 210.1.77.52 (talk) 19:22, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Overuse of non-free images[edit]

This article came to my attention as it rose in the ranks of articles that most use non-free files. It now hosts 88 non-free images, making it the #1 article on the project in terms of non-free image use. It has 49% more non-free images than prior #1. You may see the entirety of the list here.

WP:NFCC #3 implores us to use non-free images as little as necessary. Foundation:Resolution:Licensing policy requires the use of EDPs (non-free media) to he minimal. Further, WP:NFG strongly discourages the use of non-free images in tables, as is largely the case here.

I've tagged this article with {{non-free}}, and strongly urge contributors to this article to consider revamping this article in such a way as to convey meaning of the article's topic without having to use so much non-free content. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 17:31, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have reduced the number of non-free images on this article, removing images of the banknotes that either have their own article or only have minor changes compared to its previous versions. As a compromise, I have retained the observe of the highest denomination of a certain series. -WayKurat (talk) 13:06, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • THANK YOU! That's a LOT better. It's been dropped from 88 to 47. Still, 47 is a considerable amount of non-free usage, and leaves this is #4 on the list. I think the article could be re-written towards an overview of the Philippine peso as currency, its development, view towards security features, valuations concerns (if any) over time, etc. rather than trying to be a slavish reproduction of every currency pieces in the system. --Hammersoft (talk) 16:49, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Over use of non-free images[edit]

At the end of March 2011, I raised an issue regarding the heavy use of non-free images on numismatics articles at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Numismatics#Usage_of_non-free_images. Three weeks later, there's been no response. My intention is to remove much of the non-free content of coins/notes from this article for violating WP:NFCC #3a, requirement for minimal use, and WP:NFCC #8, since many/all of the non-free images are designs not specifically referred to in the text by externally sourced commentary. If you have concerns about this issue, your are invited to discuss it at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Numismatics#Usage_of_non-free_images. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 19:54, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Use of non-free images on this article[edit]

This article has been identified as containing an excessive quantity of non-free content. Per the Foundation's requirement to keep non-free media use minimal, and per Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria #3, the non-free images on this article have been removed. Please note:

  • The presence of a fair use rationale for this article on an image description page does not make it acceptable for a given use.
  • Blanket restoration of the non-free images that have been removed can and most likely will be reverted, with subsequent reporting action possible.
  • If some restoration is desired, careful consideration of exactly what non-free media to use must be made, paying special attention to WP:NFCC #1 and #8. In most cases non-free media needs to be tied directly to the prose of the article, most preferably with inline citations tying the discussion to secondary sources regarding the image per Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If this is a list type article, please read the WP:NFLISTS guideline. If you wish to dispute this removal, it may be helpful to read WP:OVERUSE, as it answers a number of typical questions and responses to removals such as this. If after reading these, you still feel there is grounds for restoration of most or all of the media that have been removed, please post to Wikipedia talk:Non-free content.
