Needed articles.

We should have an article on every pyramid and every nome in Ancient Egypt. I'm sure the rest of us can think of other articles we should have.

Cleanup.

To start with, most of the general history articles badly need attention. And I'm told that at least some of the dynasty articles need work. Any other candidates?

Standardize the Chronology.

A boring task, but the benefit of doing it is that you can set the dates !(e.g., why say Khufu lived 2589-2566? As long as you keep the length of his reign correct, or cite a respected source, you can date it 2590-2567 or 2585-2563)

Stub sorting

Anyone? I consider this probably the most unimportant of tasks on Wikipedia, but if you believe it needs to be done . . .

Data sorting.

This is a project I'd like to take on some day, & could be applied to more of Wikipedia than just Ancient Egypt. Take one of the standard authorities of history or culture -- Herotodus, the Elder Pliny, the writings of Breasted or Kenneth Kitchen, & see if you can't smoothly merge quotations or information into relevant articles. Probably a good exercise for someone who owns one of those impressive texts, yet can't get access to a research library.

And then I will change it back to the English and then suggest to the wikipedia mailing list that your move privilages be revoked. I'm tired of having to move pages back because of your "my way or the highway" ideas that are counter to our well-accepted naming conventions. --mav

I believe that the reference to his alternative name as 'Loser' is an attempt at a joke. There is no historical support for this. Imhotep Vs. Joseph[edit]

Please can you provide up to date references for any additions – a 70 year old reference isn't exactly current. Also this is not an article about Imhotep Markh 17:02, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pharaoh[edit]

The Ancient Egyptians didn't call their kings Pharaohs until well into the New Kingdom... over a thousand years later.

See the wiki entry Pharaoh. It was a title in a letter to Aknenaten and only LATER than THIS became a title for a king. Much later.

I do not believe it serves any good purpose to universally use the term Pharaoh as King. It creates the impression that kings in the Old Kingdom were Pharaohs. They were not. It directly asserts that Zoser (Djoser) was Pharaoh. He was not.

I think it should say "King."

Maybe the word "Pharaoh" should be replaced with "King" but still link to "Pharaoh."

I don't know.

I won't change anything.

Vizier error[edit]

The section titled "Djoser and Imhotep" claims Imhotep was Djoser's vizier. However, as far as I know, that was not one of the titles he held. "Chancellor" probably would be a better title of his to use here, but not "vizier". — al-Shimoni (talk) 06:12, 1 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
