I've just joined but I have been ananymous for a while and am what one might call an expert newbie. I love Television.

Greetings all.

Hello, I'm Linkskywalker. I'm afraid I do not have as much expertise around here as many others, and probably wont be able to contribute to any significant articles - but I promise to put the expertise I do have to work.

This includes OTBRPGs (Which due to the relative newness of this field, I have nothing to draw on but my own extensive experience), Star Wars, the Video game industry's history, as well as extensive knowledge on video games in general, I also have done a lot of study on various types of internet societies, lingo, and the like. I also may be of some minor help with subjects of the like of Japaneese anime and Web Design, as well as a scattering of other topics that I have significantly more than a rudamentory understanding of.

As I said, not too useful - I am but 17 yet, and hope to be able to become more useful in the near future, I do think that Wikimedia is doing one of the greatest, most revolutionary things to happen online since the search engine, and I'd like to do my best to help.

I hope I can be more of a help than a bother, I gladly accept any help at all. Thank you all for creating wikipedia.

Hello one and all!

I've been using Wikipedia for years, but only recently realised the extraordinary way it's compiled - a true moment of revelation.

I've set about adding a couple of articles already - City of Edinburgh Music School and James MacMillan so far. I also intend to provide a fuller account of John Ogdon's life and work one day.

As this might indicate, one of my main interests is classical music. I'm also fascinated by journalism and broadcasting, public transportation, tennis, and the more obscure personalities of musical theatre - I've already got my eye on Robert Russell Bennett and Marni Nixon.

Being Scottish, I'm interested in that country's history and culture, and that of nearby Ireland.

Looking forward to contributing, and hearing your views on what I have to offer...!

Hello, Wikipedians:

I'm "Furtivito." I signed up four days ago after following a link published in PC Computing magazine. I'm a writer (brochures and stuff, nothing important) and editor. I've already done a bit of copy editing on a couple of pages, and have signed up as a Spanish-to-English translator (my wife, a native of Peru, has been helping me with my Spanish and I'm now at the point where I might be somewhat useful). I'm going to study what's going on here and, hopefully, I can start making some real contributions soon. From what I've seen thus far, this is a great community; I'm glad I found you.

I've been researching Pirate Radio for a One Man show I am putting on and was surpised to see no article on Mbanna Kantako. So I created a Stub on the guy and will work on it later. I heard about this word of mouth, then found it helping my daughter research Abraham Lincoln. Wonderful stuff. Having just been to Peru, I had to correct a couple of oversights on towns in the North. Thanks for the links to instructions, that will help a lot. Anybody know if these tools are available commercially for use within a corporation to document a variety of basic knowhow?

Greetings to all Wikipedia enthusiasts!

I have read various Wikipedia articles over the past few weeks since being linked to Wikipedia from Google (no surprise there!) when I was looking for something on the former East Germany. However, it was only a couple of days ago (as of 15 February) that I decided to get involved actively by heavily expanding the article about the Luftwaffe (German air force), since it seemed to be a bit thin and did (I have to say!) contain a few factual errors that I thought needed correcting. Once I started, though, I found it hard to stop, because I have been interested in military aviation for more than 30 years, and I felt that the article needed expanding since the German air force, like it or not, has been influential in world history. I hope that other users and readers will view the article as objective and informative and in no way politically biased merely because the Luftwaffe served the Nazi regime during 1933-1945.

I myself am non-political, and the article I have expanded was based overwhelmingly on the knowledge I have gained as an enthusiast over three decades. While I had, especially during my teenage years, an extremely strong interest in the Luftwaffe and military air forces in general, I have never actually served in the RAF (I am British). I have been teaching English as a second/foreign language in China since October 2001, and this is my career. Yet military aviation has been a hobby of mine since I was nine. I do have a family, as I am married to a Chinese lady and we have a daughter, born in April 2004, who has U.K. citizenship.

I have looked at some other articles pertaining to other air forces. The articles on Canada's air forces (both pre-1968 and post-1968) are good ones, I think. However, even I was surprised when I saw that the article for the l'Armée de l'Air (the French air force) is presently a stub in spite of the organization's very long history. Also, some other articles about air forces could do with a historical background (e.g., Finnish air force). (Any takers?)

I intend to continue to contribute to Wikipedia as much as I can, since I am enthusiastic about being able to write things (I think!) I know about!

However, editing requires a gentle touch. It's amazing how attached an author can become to a comma placement. Working with team specialists in pulling together technical & grant proposals isn't as much fun as Wikipedia. I don't have the flexibility to choose a topic...or delete clients. OK, what to say...

I originally found out about the site in mid-to-late 2004, but didn't join up and start contributing till January 13, 2005. I dig Wikipedia. Big time. I wish I could write and edit for Wikipedia as a full-time job. Seriously, that would make me a happy and fulfilled guy.

I have always loved reference materials of all kinds, which now that I look at it is a hugely geeky thing to say. But as long as I'm implicating myself... when I was a kid and didn't have anything else I felt like reading, I used to just grab a random volume of the encyclopedia and take it to bed to read, flipping through until I found something that caught my interest (which never took long).

Personal details... hmm... well, I'll throw in a few. I'm 34; live in the greater Los Angeles area but am originally from the San Francisco Bay Area; I'm trained as an actor and have worked in that capacity professionally, although necessity has obliged me to work in more ordinary day jobs more often than not... c'est la vie.

My interests and areas of knowledge are fairly broad; general concentrations include

• Theatre of all kinds, from dramatic plays to musical theatre (including opera)
• Film of all kinds
• Music of many diverse genres, particularly a cappella singing, jazz, and blues
• Mass media and media studies
• History
• Genealogy
• Sports
• Poker (I'll have you know, I was into it before it was trendy).

My contributions so far have spun off of the American Eugene O'Neill. From his entry I proceeded to one for his play Long Day's Journey Into Night, and now to the actor Jason Robards, Jr., who became among the foremost interpreters of O'Neill.
