WikiProject Lepidoptera policy - Draft categorisation guidelines & Common vs scientific names[edit]

Hi Neilj,

I've brought up two policy issues for discussion on WikiProject Lepidoptera here . May I request your valuable contribution and counsel, as a member of WikiProject Lepidoptera, in this regard. AshLin 18:13, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A request to reconsider[edit]

Hi Neil,

Thank you for your input. I have posted in response to your opinion attempting to show how this step, which you presently disapprove of, will allow us to go ahead. Your point of view already exists as the status quo but it creates such problems that we cant progress ahead at all. Our WikiProject is new. If we should face problems, practices and policies can be reversed. Though not agreeing with us, may I request you to please give us your support by agreeing with the proposal. I assure you the step is in the best interests of the WikiProject and will accelarate the development of new articles. You will find that a complete set of guidelines, tools and categories will come up which will help you develop Lepidoptera articles easily. In good faith, AshLin 15:55, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus[edit]

Hi Neil,

Even though more wikipedians have expressed their opinion in favour of, as opposed to your point of view, wikipedia is NOT a democracy and guidelines can be made only through consensus. That means, your concerns need to be understood by me, as well as I do my own. And conversely, this applies to you too. You too need to extend the same courtesy to us.

I'm in the process of learning about pagerank, how google and yahoo works so that I can engage in a meaningful discussion with you. Since I am not in the computing profession, it will take me at least a week to learn about all this. Please give me the additional time so that we can find a way to meet your concern and work out a path acceptable to all.

I assume that, like most wikipedians, you are willing to enter into such a discussion about your opinions. I am making an explicit attempt in good faith so as to achieve a consensus for a path to progress of the WikiProject. All I ask is that you help me to explore the issue and understand it so that we are able to act so as to avoid the reduction of page-ranking of Wikipedia by our actions. Please post me whether you are willing to work this out, else there would be no point to the efforts I would put in, which would be at personal cost to me. Also that once, we have explored this, you would attempt to understand our concerns and keep an open mind before reconsidering your decision. Once I hear from you, I will start my study about this subject.

BTW, why dont you add some details to your user page. :-)

Its easier and more comfortable for the rest of us to cooperate with a person who has a 'face' on Wikipedia. Regards, AshLin 12:12, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Query[edit]

Are You the Neilj I think you are in the Lepidoptera world? If so you may be interested in edits to the Ragwort Article which you have edited before. Your contributions would be welcome. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LadyGlanville (talkcontribs) 14:19, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
