Happy Holidays, You Bastard[edit]

Article consists of virtually nothing except the lyrics to a song. The anonymous author claims that the lyrics aren't copyrighted. Assuming that to be true, there's still no purpose to the article. I see no reason to determine whether it's a copyvio before we delete it, so I list it here. JamesMLane 07:08, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. This seems like a candidate for a speedy delete, based on the content. - [[User:Defunkt|Defunkt (talk)]] 07:11, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. As Defunkt said. - Vague Rant 07:27, Oct 29, 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete: If anyone can think of a criterion of Speedy Delete that this would satisfy, I'd be willing to kill it. I can't think of one, although it is a blatantly hostile article and quite disruptive. The author should know that real punks fight real battles; mall punks think messing with Wikipedia is a victory. • Here's a Speedy Delete reason: "No meaningful content or history." Lousy song, lousy lyrics, no worthwhile value, and for some reason it's listed as a "sports-related" article. Huh. Delete. Inky 01:47, 30 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Yeeeah, I can't quite do that one, but I agree with you. My favorite part was the "protect template" affixed to it. Not only did the author consider it a sports article, but he didn't want anyone messing with his beautiful sports article. Makes you wonder if this is worse vandalism than appears, whether it was a blanking of an existing article and a move. At any rate, that's why I called it a hostile article. • A song by Blink 182 with uncopyrighted lyrics? I don't think so. Delete. And I'm with the speedies, too. (Hey, howzabout adding "everyone who VfDs on the topic after X amount of time thinks it should be speedied" to the list of speedy criteria?) Bearcat 17:17, 30 Oct 2004 (UTC)
    • Ok, I'll pull the {{delete}} trigger on it. "Early removal by unanimous delete vote after X time" has been one of the proposals for VfD reform. I don't know the status of the proposal, but some folks are getting "bold" and doing it. I haven't seen protest yet, but it is extrajudicial at this point. My speed delete will be "evidence of vandalism." The "protect" and the sports cat are enough to show vandal intent, IMO. Geogre 15:08, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)
