Album title[edit]

This album is officially called John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, although it is often - and lazily - referred to as Plastic Ono Band. The same goes for Yoko Ono's simultaneously-released album. I have reverted all changes from Plastic Ono Band back to their REAL titles. Please discuss in the future before making changes, especially wrong ones.

Lennon and McCartney reputedly learned this from Donovan in Rishikesh, hence its prevalence on White.

Klaus Voormann Rolling Stone citation[edit]

I'm removing the line concerning Klaus claiming most of the songs were recorded in one or two takes. If someone can find the original quotation and source it, feel free to put it back in. In any case, the session tapes seem to prove that the opposite was the case (e.g. a simple song like "Hold On" had over 30 takes). Tripscafe (talk) 20:05, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On the song's genre labeling.[edit]

"Working Class Hero" is a folk song -research on folk chord progressions, and then refer to the timbre of the song-, and the "Rock" label is much too generalist for a tag in which greater specification could be used. This song has been acknowledged as a nod to Bob Dylan's Masters Of War, written in a style that follows his same tradition. (See the article, it doesn't declare a source, however, but I have read similar statements from reliable sources -which, should someone find and cite them, would be greatly appreciated-.) John takes his guitar, adds no electric instrumentation, and plays a simple folk chord progression with a traditional playing style, and moreover, he does so in a style reminiscent of Bob Dylan's early traditional songs: this makes it arguably a folk piece. Stop adding "Rock" merely because that is the overall genre of the song's album. Had it been released as a single, you'd be studying it as a piece on its own, not utilizing purely contextual labels. Just so we understand each other, I am not a "revisionist" and I didn't revert your edit because rock is the overall genre of the song's album. I reverted it because you removed the genre without a source or a discussion. I would encourage you to read WP:V. As much as you my think it is a well established fact, you still need a source. Lazy copy and pasting[edit]

Hi. Twice in this article appears the very same sentence: "John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band is generally considered one of Lennon's finest solo albums, documenting with honesty and artistic integrity his emotional and mental state at that point in his career." All well and heavy, but don't you think someone could come up with something slightly different to say in the opener besides simply copying/pasting a ripped off summation not once, but twice? Guidance To Turn C Class to B Class[edit]

Hello John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band talk page,

I'm wondering if you could help point me in the right direction. I'm working in a college course to edit Wikipedia pages and fill content gaps. I was asked to choose a topic I feel passionate about and decided I wanted to help improve the page on one of my favorite albums of all time, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band. I see that the article is listed as C class, but as a new and inexperienced Wikipedia user, I'm not sure what is needed to bump that C to a B. I see the B Class criteria list, but I am still uncertain as to where it actually needs to be implemented within the page. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Wrong Review Link?[edit]

The review listed by Q magazine (4 out of 5 stars) is actually linking to CD Universe, whose rating is just an average of 9 (non-professional) posters. In fact, all but one give it five stars, while the ninth (knocking it down a peg) is this: 3 stars 3 out of 5 stars The Legend Lives!!! No doubt best Lennon album, and yeah prob best post BEATS but this album lacks 1 great thing.......... yes U guessed it, the backbeat of a man named Ringo(joking)... sick album... By dicklogan14 (midland pank, NJ (deadly territory)) Hardly a notable critic I'm sure we'd agree, and obviously not from Q. 1971 Rolling Stone review[edit]

Would be good to include something from Lester Bangs' album review. It's here at the Rolling Stone site but access is for subscribers only. I pay out enough as it is (Rock's Backpages, etc), but if there's an RS.com subscriber out there who could add a sentence or two that captures Bangs' opinion of the album, that would be great. Track numbering on side two[edit]

Tracks on side two are numbered 1–6 but referred to elsewhere as 6–11.
