From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Several years ago, I ceased actively contributing to Wikipedia due to what I saw as an ideological divide between its mission as "a free encyclopedia that anyone can edit", the practical implementation of the system, and the hierarchical structure of its contributors. Since then, I have seen the system slowly modified to disenfranchise users such as myself: long-standing casual contributors. I was denied a vote in several important changes due to a low edit count and on more than one occasion accused of "sockpuppetry" despite having a history of contributions going back to 2003.

Now Wikipedia is requiring approval for edits to commit to particular articles. I have learned enough from the past to know that I will not be considered experienced enough to make approved edits.

So be it; have your wish. I no longer edit Wikipedia.
