Finland[edit]

Finland's status as a "neutral" is an euphemism at best. She was at the brink of being taken over by domestic communists supported by the victors of the Continuation War. It may be theoretically true, but if so, it's a misleading factoid, as it emphasizes less relevant information but supresses the more relevant.

Furthermore, even factoid on a "declaration of war" may be true - or not - but as the relevant link to the Lapland War is missing, and as the relevant dates for the war (September 19th for the commitment, November for start of hot combats, April for conclusion) are omitted (there is, admittedly, not much space) the result of these strange notions is nothing but confusion for the reader.

In any case, it's hard to understand why such informations are omitted in the relevant article.

sincerely ML

Favre[edit]

I added "2008 - Brett Favre announced his retirement after 17 NFL seasons." and it was promptly reverted by Mufka as a "nn event". What's "nn"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.201.195.9 (talk) 17:47, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NN means non-notable. That means that it doesn't belong. Events should be globally notable and impactful. For ideas of what is considered globally notable see WP:NGS. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 17:56, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mount Rushmore March 3 correction needed[edit]

Can someone with more US histrical/research and wiki know-how than I correct the Mount Rushmore listing for March 3 (the year 1933 and description appear to be wrong) 1) March 3 is the congressional authorization seems not to be the dedication and wrong year wikippedia's own site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Rushmore cites "Congress authorized the Mount Rushmore National Memorial Commission on March 3, 1925.[7] see also--http://lcweb2.loc.gov/diglib/legacies/SD/200003524.html the National Park Systen site states march 5 as the authorization date by the state, but makes no mention of the Federal date beyon 1933 and before the March 5 state's date http://www.nps.gov/archive/moru/park_history/memorial_hist/memorial_history.htm 2) 1933---June 10 1933 It became a part of the National Park System 3) Dedication date ---July 3, 1991 was the actual presidential dedication date http://bushlibrary.tamu.edu/research/finding_aids/whorm/speeches.php#SP291 --setion SP806-01, TR115-- (with mini-dedications over the years for each face on the monument) --Crystalgive (talk) 19:01, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Norris-Laguardia[edit]

Delete March 3 listing for the Norris-Laguardia Act seems Hoover signed it March 23, 1932 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norris-LaGuardia_Act and http://www.presidentialtimeline.org/html/timeline.php?id=31 who is listing these incorret entries Crystalgive (talk) 19:19, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to remove inaccurate or unsupported listings. Don't be afraid to be bold. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 20:17, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I added Square root day with the link and an appropriate explanation, and it was promptly reverted. Could someone please explain this? Thanks!71.72.129.4 (talk) 21:43, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is nowhere near important enough for a Day article. Only important events should be listed, not pointless trivia. Jim Michael (talk) 23:19, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Women Against Pornography, Pig Award, might be incorrect day[edit]

This AP article in the St. Petersburg Evening Independent, describing the Pig Award event as held the night before, was dated Saturday, March 2, 1985 http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=M-4LAAAAIBAJ&sjid=X1kDAAAAIBAJ&pg=7054,452535&dq=women+against+pornography+pig+award which would have the event on Friday,March 1,1985. No other documents are readily available. Unfortunately every website listing for this event has mimmicked this listing in Wikipedia for March 3. 75.199.7.80 (talk) 19:38, 22 February 2009 (UTC)User:Crystalgive

Removed as unsupported. Support must come from a linked article. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 20:08, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

1974 Event: Roman Catholic and Lutheran...[edit]

Maybe I'm missing the boat on this one, but I can't find any information pertaining to the 1974 event:

Roman Catholic and Lutheran officials reach an agreement for eventual reconciliation into one communion, marking the first agreement between the two churches since the Reformation

That is to say, I can't find anything except on "This Day in History" sites.

Does anybody know what this event is referring to? Does anyone have any issue with my removing it? Kentholke (talk) 22:03, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The event does not link to any articles that support it, so it should be removed. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 23:46, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possible correction needed for the March 3 entry of 1820 (Missouri Compromise)[edit]

The entry "1820 – The U.S. Congress passes the Missouri Compromise." is on the page for March 3. However, when clicking on the link for "Missouri Compromise" ([Compromise]), that page states that the Missouri Compromise was passed by the 16th United States Congress on May 8, 1820"

Clearly one of the two is in error. However there are no citations on either entry.

Hopefully, someone with sufficient research skills can make the appropriate correction.

Don't know why no one has responded to this before, but as it's unsourced, it's quite valid for me to delete it. Deb (talk) 15:35, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Switch might not be the best-selling yet, but it is the first HYBRID console ever, which is quite an accomplishment. So yeah, I still feel like it can stay on this article. 35.141.142.199 (talk) 13:26, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think the release meets WP:EVENTDOY. Let's hear what other people think. Deb (talk) 15:35, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What about the fact that one of its launch titles is extremely critically acclaimed? 35.141.142.199 (talk) 02:58, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's an entirely subjective comment and has no bearing on the matter. Deb (talk) 07:28, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Even if it was subjective, something that's not subjective and is a fact is that the game sold over 30 million copies. 35.141.142.199 (talk) 16:51, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
