Neutral POV[edit]

This article reads like a publicity flyer or "view book" for SPU. It's not neutral, nor does it contain information that couldn't be found at SPU's web site; indeed, much of the entry is cribbed from there.

Fabio[edit]

He did not enroll, but did take non-matriculated business classes in the 1980s. [1]

Restructuring[edit]

I believe the SPU article can be significantly enhanced. I have already started to do so, with the infobox, pictures, and adding additional information. However, more can be done. Specifically the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Universities has specfic (but tentative) guidelines for how Univeristy articles can be laid out, and what information to include. Does anybody think this is a good idea? Asiir 15:56, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

this article...[edit]

...has a lot of opinion presented as fact. As a Seattleite who's not a big fan of SPU, I'm not really the man to change it. Someone else? —Preceding unsigned comment added by CMLLovesDegus (talkcontribs)

Recent edits constitute a massive copyvio from https://www.spu.edu/info/A2004aboutSPU.pdf and other official SPU sites. I'm going to revert to an earlier version. --Lukobe 04:55, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I was wondering where all the new material was coming from so quickly... Any ideas on how to improve or remove opinions? Asiir 01:19, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think there is some good, non-copyvio material in some of the pages from after the reversion. When I have more time in a couple days I'll look through and pick some out Asiir 01:25, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copy edit on May 30 - article needs reference[edit]

I went through the article thoroughly on May 30 and believe the copyedit and wikify can be removed. However, article still needs references. See Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Reliable sources for more information about Wikipedia's policies on these matters. KarenAnn 14:07, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Violation[edit]

The "Traditions" section is almost exculsively word-for-word from the SPU website at http://www.spu.edu/acad/UGCatalog/20067/GeneralInfo/aboutSPU_info.asp#7 , this needs to be rewritten, preferrably not by merely changing the order of words and using a thesaurus. Thrasymachus007 00:58, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It should probably be cut for now --Lukobe 01:13, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fake Alumni[edit]

It seems to be a problem that random people are editing this page by putting fake people in the "Famous Alumni" section. If you are doing this, please stop. The purpose of Wikipedia is not for people to joke around by adding erroneous facts. -Caldwa

CFE[edit]

The article needs to be updated, CFE has now been completely scrapped in favor of a project called 37five with a very different focus. I may rewrite it if I find the time, as a sophomore at SPU I'd have a good idea of what it's all about. --The Human Spellchecker 09:24, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

I'd consider the images in the article to be of at best suspect provenance. The person who uploaded them has a history of uploading images with rights problems; they are very well photographed but low-res, often an indication of images grabbed off of another site. Someone with access to the campus should probably take new photos, and I would think these should be deleted as likely copvios unless someone can give a satisfactory explanation of why they have these unusual characteristics.

When someone does upload new images, I suggest putting them on Commons, so they can be used also on other language Wikipedias. There are currently apparently no images of SPU on Commons. - Jmabel | Talk 07:04, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:SPULOGO.gif[edit]

Image:SPULOGO.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Haven[edit]

Various people keep adding a version of this statement: "Part of Dr. Eaton's legacy is that he approved the group "Haven" for LGBTQ students"

The truth is Eaton tried to get the group kicked off campus and only reversed course after the huge outcry. This is an excellent blog on the topic: supportspuhaven.wordpress.com. And in this article from the school paper about Haven being recognized, there is no mention of Eaton. Finally, it only became a club in 2013 (Eaton left in 2012).
