Racist Addition of Judge's Name[edit]

There is no reason to include the judge's (ShawnDya Johnson) name, judges should be treated as impersonal legal entities. If there is public speculation that there were racial motivations to the judge's decision, say (cite) it. But none of this sneaky business on wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.237.249.128 (talk) 06:29, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Birthdate[edit]

Busta born in 72? Yea right on ppl. - Support your argument before posting a disagreement.

Apparently he was Henrym 09:00, 11 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Born 1972, finished university in England, then moved back to USA in 1990? So he finished university before age 18? That sounds early. martin 11:48, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Busta wasn't born in 1961, he was born May 20, 1972 [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fundiva12 (talkcontribs) 03:52, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Next single off "The Big Bang[edit]

I'm deleting the listing for the 2005 single "Put You Pussy On It" as the second release off "The Big Bang." I cannot find any evidence that this song even exists, let alone that it is being released. Sebastian Prospero 21:32, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Y2K? "Extinction Level Event"[edit]

Busta's album, "Extinction Level Event: The Final World Front", is listed on wikipedia as being inspired by the movie "Deep Impact." However, in an Entertainment Weekly article (which contradicts the "Deep Impact" reference) at the time of the album's release (EW issue: 12/18/98, article title: "Busta Moves" by Tom Sinclair), Busta explained that he was part of a religious sect that believed the world was going to end in the year 2000. Busta made statements in that interview that he was preparing for the apocalypse, and that the album's many references to armageddon were based on his actual beliefs. I'd like to know if he is still part of that religious following (or if it folded after the world didn't end 6 years ago) and is he ever made any comments about this issue since (I'm guessing, like everyone who has ever said the world would end and was proven wrong, that he hasn't said anything about it since. Either that, or he says the world was 'saved' from almost ending by the faithful)

    • I believe Busta was a part of The Five Percenters. He's used a lot of 5% terminology in his rhymes. Not sure if they believed the whole "y2k" thing though. 16:12, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Trivial Trivia?[edit]

I removed the trivia "Every song of his contains the words "Flipmode."" because I can find at least two songs in which he does not, in fact, say "Flipmode" (e.g. "Enjoy Da Ride", "Just Give It To Me Raw")

"Has been confronted one by a underground rapper Tragedy Styles" has no source link to confirm/deny, but regardless, does it add any value to the article? Perhaps if there was a specific section regarding beefs or incidents with or other rappers, it might go there.

The trivia point "Has had a flash made off of his song "Break Your Neck", which has an internet cult-hit status" seems somewhat unnecessary and also "cult-hit status" is subjective. I can, however, seeing it being a little more relevent if put in a section or list about "Busta Rhymes in popular culture" or what not.

How is being featured on a DMX track trivia?

Clean up[edit]

This whole article is a chaos. Awfully edited, uncited, picture fair use is highly questionable (it is not an album cover), wikitable, external spam link for mixtapes and so on. Lajbi Holla @ meWho's the boss? 03:50, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Style[edit]

I think this would be a good source for style: http://rap.about.com/od/reviews/fr/DillaTheShining.htm i.e. it describes his style as agressive, posturing and like a rallying-cry. I think this is better than comments like "He is known for his distinguished style" and "diverse subject matter" which can pretty much be said of anyone.

I think "posturing" and "aggressive" are even MORE typical of most rappers, honestly --Dj snyder 04:48, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image[edit]

Sorry, but no one will take this article seriously with a pic like THAT...

Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 --- User:NJ Rock

Unfortunately all those images likely have more copyright issues than the one I just replaced on the page. Someone tried to replace that image and it ended getting deleted. The best bet is to get someone to take a snapshot of the artist and release the photo under the GFDL license that Wikipedia uses. —Elipongo (Talk|contribs) 17:03, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow[edit]

The "Aftermath" section of this article is so POV that I am tempted to delete the entire section. It is poorly written and written in a conversational tone as if this was his fansite and not a respectable encylopedia. The entire section needs to be rewritten by somebody with some knowledge of the rapper (I personally do not know anything about him). Wikipediarules2221 23:09, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In addition, this section has no sources. None of the numerous quotes are sourced. If whoever found these quotes could supply the source, that would be great. If not, this whole section could be deleted because its flaws are so profound and serious that it really hurts the article. Wikipediarules2221 23:16, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

High School Graduate?[edit]

I have heard Busta say that he had dropped out of High School. Did he go back? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.118.79.155 (talk) 16:44, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please sign new comments below the rest. I wouldn't know - it might be more useful to actually make sure he did drop out. --Soetermans (talk) 22:59, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia page says that Busta moved to Uniondale, NY and graduated from Uniondale High School. However, it immediately contradicts that statement saying he went to a Technical High School in Brooklyn, NY. So, who knows. 98.116.152.159 (talk) 05:11, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Gay-Bashing Controversy[edit]

It's interesting that the article mentions nothing about Busta Rhymes and his homophobic assaults on people. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.20.40.55 (talk) 07:30, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WTF?! Busta Rhymes havent signed too Murder Inc? He had beef with Rule, highly doubt it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.211.82.164 (talk) 16:28, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

Okay, I think that the Busta Rhymes article has to be at least semi-protected because I'm tired of the bad comments by some vistors who says bad stuff about the rapper like

"he sucks ....." and other inappropriate infos. YesYesY'allBanger (talk) 20:50, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Matta[edit]

This is just a vote for consideration of the artist in a different light. The Home prime sequence on both this artist's chosen name and that of Flipmode Squad are highly coincidence-laiden. This is a recommendation for work on expanding this subject/article (and links with questions of prosecutors (and others) being prosecuted and the guilty being set free as a judgement on whether or not the winners of a war should perpetually make the rules). The thin blue line is a long one. I will present details on the actual research here tomorrow. It's nothing but numerology, really, and so this is not in any way about what to write here as much as how much. Julzes here (with computer limitations).173.15.152.77 (talk) 01:14, 12 May 2011 (UTC) This will be at least another day. I have more going on in my mind (and on my computer) than I thought when I promised 'tomorrow'.173.15.152.77 (talk) 02:16, 14 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Religion[edit]

I think it's misleading to just say that he is a Muslim. He is not a Muslim in the traditional sense. He is a 5 Percenter - a member of the Nation of Gods & Earths (NGE) which is an offshoot of the Nation Of Islam (which aren't really Muslims either). They use Islamic terminology but ascribe their own meanings to them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.138.112.198 (talk) 05:12, 11 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

BigPunisher edits[edit]

I rolledback a series of edit by User:BigPunisher because I examined the first few and it appears they were removing obvious good information and adding other information without sources that wasn't obvious. As the entire series was contaminated by the first few edits, I rolledback the whole series. I ask that BigPunisher please use WP:Edit summaries to describe their changes and also try to provide sources to back them up. This article needs more sources so that would help in many ways. Uniondale vs Westinghouse[edit]

I'm confused about the chronology of Busta's high school education. The "Early life" section mentions he attended Uniondale before and after the UK and also graduated there. It's unclear to me how Westinghouse fit in the picture. Anybody know? Jason Quinn (talk) 17:38, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Homophobia[edit]

In the personal life section, someone edited it to say that homosexuality is inherently immoral. It is not clear whether that was something BR said, but it wasn’t in quotes, so it looks like Wikipedia is claiming this directly.
