Morris Cooper, Founder of Cooper City[edit]

Morris Cooper, the founder of Cooper City, Florida, was my Uncle's father. I do not know if this revelent, but Mr. Cooper was a poor Jewish immigrant from Russia who landed in New York City. During the Great Depression Mr. Cooper built up a successful shirt making business. I was told that at the outbreak of World War 2, Morris took a train down to Washington, DC, and successfully obtained a contract to manufacture uniform shirts for the military. His company name was Imperial Shirts. After the War, Morris and his wife Clara, decided to develop acres of land from his "Imperial Ranch" in order to create a suburban town north-west of Hollywood. A classic American "rags-to-riches" story, the life of Morris Cooper began in poverty in Czarist Russia and ended in an opulent mansion on Miami Beach's posh Pine Tree Drive. In addition to the town in Florida, there is a hospital in Jerusalem, Israel, named after him and Clara. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Buddmar (talkcontribs) 08:49, 5 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]
