I have a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). I also have a Master of Science degree in Mechanics, also from RPI. I also pursued a PhD from RPI on control systems engineering with emphasis on optimal control applied to the safety of automatic systems. I have a Six Sigma Green Belt certification from General Electric. I was also trained as an ISO 9000 auditor.

Since December 2005, I have been a permatemp contractor working in the aviation industry as an avionics systems engineer primarily writing software requirements for avionics systems software (see DO-178), but I am also involved in software testing.

Generally, I have an interest in control systems, reliability, safety, Six Sigma (especially Design for Six Sigma), CMMI, Quality, and Quality Management when I do my work. I like to engineer problems out of existence before they can occur and am somewhat hypervigilant looking for problems in processes and products and actively seek ways to protect them from harm or error. I believe in the philosophy of "minimize the variance, then shift the mean" - in essence, this means minimize (or eliminate) sources of error, then improve the product or process.

I am also an avid fan of the National Lacrosse League and am interested in unsolved problems in mathematics.
