Apology in Emico dispute[edit]

I sincerely apologize for dragging you into the discussion about Emico's user conduct. I was tired on the night when I wrote the summary of Emico's Wikiquette violations, and I confused you with Emico since your usernames are so close, which I apologize for and seem to have done on other occasions, examining my contributions further. I have corrected my paragraph and affirm that Emico has committed the accusations and that you have nothing to do with this dispute. I thank you for your contributions to the Wikipedia and your adherence to Wikiquette. Sincerely, --Onlytofind 19:15, 30 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I appreciate your honesty, and I accept your apology. Please however note that I do not accept "tiredness" as an excuse. Your grandiose accusations only demand that you double- or triple-check your facts before posting it, because the cost of such mistake is too high which my name ends up paying for. Neutrality Dispute[edit]

Your original post: Rlquall, please note that Onlytofind's earlier "contributions" to the INC article is what triggered all these exchanges, and his edits still smacks of hatred against the INC. We are not out to make the INC article shaped in our own conditions (it's NPOV now more than ever, besides, not even us INC members would want that), but rather guard it from being somebody else's instrument of vengeance. Ealva 07:41, 30 May 2005 (UTC)

I've already apologized for what I've done earlier, and right now, the evidence greatly stands against your claim of INC members trying to take this article towards neutrality. Would you claim that Emico's contributions are beneficial for this article? Or that Glenn Cessor is being fair when he disparages other religions on the talk page? How about your accusing me of hatred against the INC when I have contributed both positive and negative information, all provable by many sources?--Onlytofind 21:09, 30 May 2005 (UTC)

  • I have yet to see Glenn Cessor "disparage" other religions on the talk page as you have claimed. Honestly, I think his contributions are more NPOV than yours. I do not discount the contributions you have made, and I believe you are a necessary part of this debate as much as gcessor is. While you claim your information are "provable" and "factual" (probably they are), you tilt those facts in such a way that it puts the INC in a really bad light:
    • Fact: The INC publishes a magazine. Onlytofind: The INC charges money for the magazine (without explaining why).
    • Fact: The INC believes that Jesus is not God. Onlytofind: The INC holds respect for the doctrines of Arius.
    • Fact: The INC practices unity as one of it's primary doctrines. Onlytofind: The INC violated US laws by practicing block voting (and all that IRS stuff).
  • Can you see the difference? I hope you do. There are many others, but I will end up re-writing the whole INC talk page here. I have nothing personal against you, and again, I am not condemning you because you left the INC, just as you can by me being in the INC.
  • Also, understand that we (gcessor and other INC members) are not the majority here. There are a lot more users in Wikipedia who do not believe the INC, and probably regard it as a cult. Most Wikipedia users (even admins) would rather regards us as fanatics (to put it mildly) in cases of disputes. So your statements tyranny of the majority do not really apply here.
  • For this article's sake, let us once and for all act professionally. I believe that if you start your edits in "fair and sympathetic tone", then there's no reason gcessor and I won't come up with a better way to understand what it is you want to contribute.
  • As for Emico, I have seen his edits only recently, when the RFC came up. As with everybody else, I believe he is accountable for his actions. Ealva 01:43, 31 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

    • Let me ask you some questions, Ealva
      • 1. In your time as a member of the Iglesia ni Cristo, has the INC not portrayed Arius in a favorable light, and as an instrument of truth against the Nicean Council? (paraphrased, but you get the gist) If you think I'm trying to insult the INC, keep in mind that personally, I hold no grudges or hatred towards Arius, in fact I believe that he was a good servant of God.
    • Yes, but AFAIK, this was only to prove the history of why Jesus became god (and that was a long time ago). If Arius was put in a favorable light, I don't think that should be enough to associate him with the INC. Ealva 05:15, 31 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
      • 2. Does a religious organization violate U.S law when they practice bloc voting? Perhaps we should add both sides' story to the Politics page, that the INC practices bloc voting because of its unity doctrine, while its bloc voting violates IRS 501(c)3 and has come over heavy criticism in the Philippines, along with the bloc voting tactics of the other major Philippine religions (ADD, Velarde, Catholics).
    • If you had done this the first time you made your edits to the article, I would have had a totally different impression of you. Ealva 05:15, 31 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
      • Being a former member of the INC, I can understand how some might get offended (I used to get VERY offended) about discussions related to the Church which might not sound fully sympathetic, but there are three INC members (you, GC, emico), one former INC member(myself), regularly editing this article. This will naturally lead to disagreements, which is why I'm trying to enlist the assistance of sysops and other Wikipedians to maintain neutrality, because it's always best for someone not involved in the dispute in question to bring order to the dispute. If you think that you or anyone else are being unfairly treated by the other Wikipedia users because you are an INC member, then I would advise you to speak to them and the sysops and tell them why you feel that way. --Onlytofind 02:50, 31 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • My original statements stand, but I will keep in mind your suggestion. FYI, I don't think there's such thing as a sysop here, only admins and users. Ealva 05:15, 31 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Glenn and Onlytofind[edit]

I wrote that reply a LONG time ago. The only reason I said "not yet" is for Onlytofind and you to go through ALL the other forms of resolution. If you both can't come to an agreement after all roads were tried (in which I highly doubt will happen in this case), then I can't stop him from seeking arbitration. In my opinion, if Onlytofind seeked out arbitration, the committee would likely turn him down, since it is basically a NPOV dispute. Emico's problems were much more serious than that. But I'm glad at the improvements in the attitudes of most people. Although I wish Onlytofind would watch his words, because calling people a hypocrate may be a personal attack, and other's conduct doesn't excuse one's conduct. I really don't want to get in the middle of a dispute here. Just make sure mutual consensus comes first with signifigant edits to the articles. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 08:28, Jun 26, 2005 (UTC)
You're right. I'm also glad people are coming to their senses (which I hope will last). I'm sorry if my words sounded a bit stingy, but believe me that I don't have any other intention than giving a (somewhat unsolicited) friendly reminder. Ealva 17:39, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Moving pages[edit]

Please, never, ever, move a page from one title to another using a cut-and-paste of the contents. The problem is that it screws up the article history, which is now at two places. We provide a "Move this page" function - please use it! If it doesn't work (some pages cannot be moved because of various restructions), please use WP:RM to request help from an admin.

Felix Manalo and associated pages (such as Talk:Felix Manalo) are now completely screwed up, and it's going to take a massive amount of work on my part to straighten it out, and put the histories back together again. I'm not even sure I can fix the article; after you forked it, people edited both forks, so we have overlapping edit histories now. Noel (talk) 6 July 2005 14:48 (UTC)

Proposed blackout in protest of RA 10175[edit]

Dear Ealva,

Greetings!

As a Filipino Wikipedian, I hope you are aware of the passage of Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino III on September 12, 2012. Currently, there is a discussion on the Tambayan, the noticeboard for Philippines-related topics, about a proposed blackout of the English Wikipedia in the Philippines in order to protest the passage of RA 10175, similar to the blackout against SOPA and PIPA held earlier this year. I feel that your input on the subject will definitely help in the discussion.

Please feel free to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines#The Cybercrime Prevention Act, and I hope your input will help the Filipino Wikipedia community determine which is the best course of action against this law. Similarly, we hope to get as much input from as many Wikipedians as possible.

Thank you and maraming salamat po!

Kind regards,

Sky Harbor (talk) 04:52, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
