Tone[edit]

Couldn't NPOV be maintained in this article while still presenting the current anthropological view that these old, weird, racializing categories are racist attempts at dividing humanity into hierarchical strata of quality as human beings (ineptly disguised by a veneer of relying on empirical observation)? TL;DR This article should at least mention that the topic is now considered scientifically to be bullshit.

As a writer, I am sure going to steal Carlton Coon's phrase "A reduced and somewhat foetalized survivor." As a Black person, I wonder how much Dr. Coon's obsession with race resulted from being teased as a kid about his surname? Pascalulu88 (talk) 14:38, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"neotenous features"[edit]

The phrase "neotenous features," (i.e. childlike or immature or underdeveloped features) attributed to this supposed "Alpine race" is in itself an example of pseudoscientific racialism. It presupposes that the default "adult features" of a human being are Nordic. Is it encyclopedic not to comment on this in the text? This whole article is close to being "in universe" for old time "scientific" racism, IMO. Pascalulu88 (talk) 16:37, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
