2003[edit]

As I mentioned on your talk page, you cannot put an untranslated foreign text onto english wiki. Please add a translation. In addition, is Swedish royal hymn the formal name of it? If it is, then as the proper name of the melody, it would be written as the Swedish Royal Hymn. Or would it be known more in english as the Swedish Royal Anthem? Please clarify. Other possible names: Royal Anthem (Swedish), Swedish Royal Anthem, Swedish Royal Hymn, Royal Hymn (Swedish), King's Song, Kungssången. And I suspect "From the depths of Swedish hearts" might be better than "bottom". Just thinking out loud, needs more research. -- Someone else 03:15 6 Jun 2003 (UTC)

I think it should be possible to get a full recording of someone singing it. Need a volounteer with good singing voice... --Fred-Chess 19:42, August 13, 2005 (UTC)

English Lyrics[edit]

I translated them with my Swenglish. If a native English speaker would like to take a look at it I'd be grateful. I also removed the wikify tag 193.47.167.202 10:20, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Though I appreciate your work and good faith, Wikipedia is not a forum for things like this. I do not feel its appropriate to add an "unofficial" translation of this quality so that it dominates the page. Thus I will be removing it again. It is not policy that the entire lyric of any song, official or unofficial, even of famous English songs, is added to any song's article. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 05:28, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Swedish lyrics[edit]

It is not WP's objective to be a songbook for thousands of lyrics in thousands of languages. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 17:10, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop removing the lyrics[edit]

I have noticed that every time the lyrics were added, they keep getting removed for some arbitrary and vague reason such as saying the lyrics are of "no interest to readers of English" and some straight up asserting that the lyrics are "not needed". Please stop removing the lyrics whenever they are added. It is an established precedent for lyrics to be included in patriotic songs and hymns whenever possible, just refer to the articles for basically every national anthem/patriotic song in the world. Assuming the readers' disinterest and vaguely stating that the lyrics are not needed are not valid reasons to remove such an integral part of this article. "It is not WP's objective to be a songbook for thousands of lyrics in thousands of languages" is not a valid reason either, there are no editing guidelines that state such a thing. Not having the lyrics also makes the article confusing to read as there's a lyrics section and even a description of the lyrics, but the lyrics are nowhere to be seen. I'm not going to add the lyrics back again for now, but if they are ever added back again, they should not be arbitrarily removed without prior consensus unless there's some kind of copyright issue involved. The Swedish lyrics are irrelevant; they cannot possibly be of any interest to readers of English who do not know Swedish. The English translation is not genuine or confirmed by any reliable source. We don't add our own work to Wikipedia articles arbitrarily. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 16:25, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
WP:NPS: "If out of copyright, shorter texts – such as...short songs (most national anthems) – are usually included in their article" David Jiang (talk) 17:51, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
