Untitled[edit]

I don't know whether this should be here. The place is currently called "Bridgwater" (not that that's any guarantee that the title is spelt the same way), but there is no consensus on the internet as to how the title is spelt. Cokayne spells "Bridgwater" on etymological grounds (< from "Burg-Walter"), but both his direct quotations (one the will of the seventh Earl) spell "Bridgewater". So does the Oxford DNB, and , apparently, so do the treatises. (I haven't looked at a copy, but a major university library transcribes thus). Septentrionalis 22:26, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
