ISOs[edit]

Can someone put a link to ISO? I'm not a photographer and the abbreviation was not defined for me in any of its mentions in the article. Thanks! --131.252.243.114 (talk) 17:49, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Since this article was up for deletion, I decided to reanalyze the subject and separate the very good previous entry into bits that allow for later expansion. I personally love what I call action trash photography, but if people here decide to call it "candid" that's fine with me :-) I call it action trash, since I end up throwing away 1/5 of the film if not more, and since the results really have a trashy quality to them. But I am aware that this is very much my own point of view...

So, now the entry is a worthwhile Wikipedia entry. I loved it beforehand, but if someone complains about it's UnWikiness, that can be fixed easily, particularly with important foundations already being laid.

Now, you all can go ahead and put in more stuff.

There are more photographers worthwile mentioning.

There are camera models that are very good, and some that are not so useful, for candid photography.

There are "very, very, very candid" photography situations that probably smoothly blend into erotic photography.

Is there candid journalism?

All that is now up for editing, and that's what makes a good Wikipedia entry: a paragraph by paragraph analysis of a subject so further understanding of the main term is generated, and further contributions are easier to channel.

I hope some people share my take on this subject, otherwise PUHLEZZEE revert to the previous version of this entry. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 212.254.142.80 (talk • contribs) 12:37, 12 March 2005 (UTC).[reply]

External links[edit]

the use of external links is an important one and is not spam. When users come to this page they expect to find information and links provided by editors and expect those links to be authority links. It is wrong to come and remove them in a sweeping fashion. that is not the job of an editor. An editor should add not remove. Please add more links instead of removeing them all. No, that is not Wikipedia's guideline on External links. In particular we should not be adding external links that promote the work of one commerical photographer over another, unless they were the photographer who defined a particular style, such as Henri Cartier-Bresson for Street photography perhaps. -- Solipsist 10:43, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Origins[edit]

Candid Usage: Fair, Open, Frank, Ingenuous.

I guess in history of the black art of production of pictures, very view was candid. Candid photography is a reinvention of a tool for the art. In painting the Camera obscura was common.

compare:

Johannes Vermeer (baptized October 31, 1632, died December 15, 1675)

Peter Candid (c. 1548, probably in Bruges – 1628 in Munich) aka Peter de Witt or Peter de Witte was a Netherlandish Mannerist painter and architect.

But it has to be considered, that due to technical problems in the production of lenses the development of the Camera obscura was not straight from the Pinhole camera it has to be assumed, that for long times, there has been used cameras iluminatas witch used concave mirrors instead of lenses.

What happened to just being candid?[edit]

Hi,

Why does 'Candid' redirect to 'Candid Photography'?

Please go to www.google.com and try searching for 'speak candidly', 162000 results when I tried it and #2 was 'Judges speak candidly on new e-discovery rules'. Candid possibly has some basis in humor, I'm pretty sure at least but I think it definitely has connotation of being 'true'.

I love Candid Photography, don't get me wrong, but wikipedia wouldn't suffer by having a 'Candid' entry and it could say something about the origin of the word and link to 'Candid Photography'. Entirely unsure but I think it's french or latin and basically truthful (or at least trying to be).

I think the actual connotation is that the speaker believes it to be true at the very least. In photography the actual expectation is that the subject is unaware they are about to be photographed/filmed and not necessarily humorous (or somehow naughty), basically the scene and subject is 'true' and not posed - quite as opposed to the usual 'candid camera' type show where the scene is staged but the victim is being caught 'candidly'.

Citations needed.[edit]

This article reads like it was written by a dopey art student, or an amateur. The tone is not neutral and the section labeled Context is just plain wrong. Candid photography is when the subject is unaware. Period. None of this nonsense about telephoto lens not being candid photography. It's just lunacy. So yes, paparazzi can be candid. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.234.252.84 (talk) 08:16, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Candid wedding photography[edit]

Candid wedding photography is a type of wedding photography that captures the natural, spontaneous moments of the wedding day in a photojournalistic style. It is a more relaxed and informal approach to traditional wedding photography and focuses on capturing moments as they happen. Examples of candid wedding photography include shots of guests mingling, the bride and groom embracing each other, the wedding party getting ready, the ceremony, the reception, and the couple leaving the church. Candid wedding photography is often seen as the opposite of posed wedding photography, which focuses on the posed and formal shots of the couple and their guests.
