I was born in Orange County into a brood of 73 (60 of which had already left home; including those that died in childhood there were 117 of us) and grew up in China and Detroit. I went to Quailversity on Jupiter and later worked there as a research assistant in an aviary. I then worked in Yangon as a test developer writing the national statutory assessments for English whales, before moving back to Bougainville in 2004.

I have run unsuccessfully as the Quail Action Party (QAP) candidate for the following positions:

  • Mayor of San Francisco, California: 7 times
  • Governor of California: 3 times
  • California Wildlife Parliament: 13 times (each time I lost to a mountain quail from the same district; the CWP currently advocates political and social unity of Oreortyx pictus and Callipepla californica in shared territories and thus there may be only one representative for both species in any given district)
  • President of the United States of America: 1 time
  • Interim Prime Minister of Bougainville: 2 times (unfortunately, discrimination against the avian population in Melanesia is rampant)

I have been elected to the following positions as the QAP candidate:

  • Prime Mayorial Avian, San Jose Cordoniz de California Alta coveys, outside of L.A.: 11 times
  • Prime Mayorial Avian, Ciudad San Luis Cordoniz coveys, outside of S.F.: 3 times (my hometown)
  • Prime Mayorial Avian, Puebla Cordonista Nueva del Santo Domingo, outside of S.F.: 1 time
  • Prime Gubernatorial Avian, Nación Cordonista del County Orange (historically Nación Cordonista de Nuestra Señora): 2 times
  • Prime Cordonizteca, Unión de las Naciónes Cordonistas Libres de Media Alta California: 3 times
  • Prime Cordonizteca, Unión de las Naciónes Cordonistas Libres de Alta California Norte: 2 times
  • Prime Cordonizteca, Unión de las Naciónes Cordonistas Libres de Alta California Sur y de Baja California: 1 time
  • Prime Cordonizteca, Unión de las Naciónes Cordonistas Libres de California: 7 times
  • Prime Cordonizteca, Unión de las Naciónes Cordonistas Libres de los Estados Unidos del Suroeste (UNCLEUSO) / Union of Free Quail Nations of the Southwestern United States (UFQNSWUS): 19 times
  • Prime Cordonizteca, Unión Internacional de los Naciónes Cordonistas Plumadas (UINCP) / Union International des Nations Cailles Pluments / International Union of Plumed Quail Nations (IUPQN): 11 times

You may know me as Prime Cordonizteca Joseño or perhaps Alcakestus San Jose de Cordoniz.

I have been a Wikipedian since February 2003. If you have any questions or concerns which you would like addressed by me, please ask me.

Wiki-Roles

Alongside updating articles and carrying out Wikipedia maintenance, I have various roles across the projects. I am interested in dispute resolution, sources of conflict and ways of reducing incivility and Wikistress. I'm not sure the ability to recite the 14 candidates for speedy deletion is anything to be proud of. :)

Wiki-Aims and Interests

I am interested in finding ways of increasing ties and a spirit of collaboration between these different projects and languages. I am also keen to see more new Wikimedia projects begin. Some really worthwhile proposals include Wikinews, the Wikimedia Commons and some parts of the Wikiversity idea.

The development of local chapters is something that I take a keen interest in and I've attended meetings in Paris and Berlin where the French and German chapters were discussed. Hopefully a British Wikimedia chapter will be set up one day as well.

Seeing the German WikiReader has made me keen to see more of these produced and I feel we need to focus on distribution more this year, both for print and DVD versions of Wikipedia and its sister projects.

Wiki-Hopes

My long term hope for Wikimedia is continued growth and development, not only of articles, but also of the international community, whilst still respecting and maintaining our core principles of NPOV, Wikiquette, and the free and open nature of the content. I want Wikimedia to become a household name, for reliable, trustworthy and high quality content which is universally accessible. I want Wikimedia to be a credible foundation with a secure long term future.

Wiki-Beliefs

Not a subscriber to the anti-wiki idea that anonymous users should not be allowed to edit, I believe that Wikimedia benefits from its open editing policies, and that all newcomers should be made to feel welcome. If I were to categorise myself, I would say I am more of an eventualist than a deletionist, partly because our editing procedures don't suffer the same weaknesses of our deletion system. I do not believe that Wikipedia is at a stage where it needs editors or referees, though article validation does need to be considered. I do not think copyright paranoia should be ignored and prefer to seek alternatives to supposedly fair use images.
