Wikipedia:Wikiclub

I can't see that this "WikiClub" does anything to benefit the Wikipedia. It helps by getting other users to edit your content (doesn't this, oh, already happen?), evidently gives the user publicity, which we all know is the point of WP (see: vanity). Users also get the "benefit" of the new Points system, which apparently will help us lose weight. Or get money. For other people. By other people? I don't know what the crap is going on there, but Wikipedia is not a video game. We don't want, have or need points. Wait, I get it. You "pay" other users to fix articles. Well, that's not the best way to get it done. Voluntary work will always be better than that which is forced on WikiClub members. I'm sorry, I can't see a point to this. As the original author says; "At the present time relatively few Wikipedians are using this page regularly, so don't take it too seriously." Shock horror, folks. In any case it should not exist on the main namespace, it's not encyclopedic, it deals with the wiki community. I suggest to the author to copy the content of this page to an extension of your userpage, and to discuss the idea with others on the Village pump. That way you can both advertise, and get an idea of how people would respond to such a club. Delete from main article space. --Woggly 10:07, 5 Dec 2004 (UTC)

• Keep. I don't see any reason to delete this. It's not part of the encyclopedia proper, and doesn't serve purposes too much unlike the notice boards for specific regions. There are sillier things in the wikipedia namespace anyhow. --Improv 18:23, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)
