Categories[edit]

Hi. I just noticed you added Ivan Calderón to the category Boxers. Since the Ivan Calderón article is already part of Category:Puerto Rican boxers adding Calderón to the Boxers category is unnecesary. For the complete guidelines on categories you may read this. Image copyright problem with Image:051008castillo_jose_luis3.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:051008castillo_jose_luis3.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. On vacant titles[edit]

In title succession boxes, you evidently prefer person-to-person succession listing, e.g.

Preceded by Lightweight boxing champion (WBC)
2004–2005
Succeeded by

whereas I think that it's less confusing to put 'Vacant' if it was vacated, e.g.

Preceded by
Vacant
Lightweight boxing champion (WBC)
2004–2005
Succeeded by

How about we compromise and do something like this:

Preceded by Lightweight boxing champion (WBC)
2004–2005
Succeeded by

and

Preceded by Middleweight boxing champion (IBF)
2005
Succeeded by
Vacant title won by
Arthur Abraham

Vacated for[edit]

Miss Maya

"The IBF middleweight title was vacated for Arthur Abraham." Is this statement true? If so, it is ambiguously. He was indeed the ultimate beneficiary of the action. But the statement reads as if the title were vacated with the specific intent that Abraham would receive it (false). Additionally, I think that 'vacated for' may confuse the EAL people; e.g. in Spanish, por can mean both 'by' and 'for.'

Is the phrase 'vacant title won by' too long? (Probably.) Unfortunately, the dictionary doesn't list 'to unvacate' as a verb. What about 'claimed by' or 'vacancy filled by?' (I like 'claimed by.') ArcTheLad 19:24, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request for edit summary[edit]

Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 5% for major edits and 0% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 1 minor edits in the article namespace.)

This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 02:30, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Calzaghe/Lacy[edit]

I've tuned up their boxes/links. (But the writing quality of those articles remains poor.) Generally when there's a flurry of edits I don't get involved until it subsides (because of the overwriting). ArcTheLad 21:35, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, just to be sure, you want Image:5mayatrain.jpg to go away, right? Without any source/license info it will be deleted permanently about a week from now. Stan 12:59, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tolkien / Gogol[edit]

Hey Jewish-American nerd, I just stumbled across your user page and found Tolkien and Gogol mentioned side by side among your idols. Funny, because lately I'm reading a lot of Gogol (Dead Souls, the Nose, the Overcoat, Nevsky Prospect, Diary of a Madman, Mirgorod) and I somehow had the feeling that Gogol could have been one of the sources of inspiration of Tolkien. Do you know something about that? --Raban 20:06, 21 June 2006 (UTC) (p.s: Happy belated birthday!)[reply]

Page Blanking[edit]

On 08-July, you blanked Felix Sturm. Blanking pages is generally considered a bad idea. I've reverted it to the previous version. If this was the result of a broken edit, you may wish to make the correct edits. If you believe the redirect should be deleted, please follow the redirect portion of the deletion procedures. If you believe an article should be written instead of the redirect, please write a stub. If you have questions, please let me know. Thanks! -- JLaTondre 13:26, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

FYI, I am going to de-list your Adnan ĆatićFelix Sturm move request. The steps for requesting a page move were not followed so no one else had a chance to see or vote on the request. Those steps put the article in a category and make a convenient place to vote. Feel free to re-list the request. —Wknight94 (talk) 16:02, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Boxing[edit]

Hi, I deleted this entry of yours (December 18 Manny Pacquiao wins by technical knockout in his third and rubber match against Erik Morales) as we can not look in the future and it's not yet December 18. Wikipedia:WikiProject Boxing[edit]

Time to kick start this again!?--Vintagekits 21:26, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I have been working with this page lately in hopes of getting it to Good Article, but my editing time has been limited lately and the page is in need of cleanup, I have noticed that you are one of the active members of the boxing WikiProject and I was wondering if you could help me? thanks for your time. - Caribbean~H.Q. 01:13, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! the problem has been my lack of editing time, I am familiar with the GA standards based on my past experience (see Miguel Cotto) but the lack of time combined with several GACs trapped in the backlog has been a killer for new GA efforts. - Caribbean~H.Q. 06:24, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Juan Diaz - WBO Lightweight Champion[edit]

Hello Maya Levy,

I notice that you made the following edits on the article entitled 'Juan Diaz':

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Juan_D%C3%ADaz_(boxer)&diff=129858453&oldid=129858116 http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Juan_D%C3%ADaz_(boxer)&diff=129858550&oldid=129858453

I was wondering why you've written that his (Diaz's) reign as WBO Lightweight champion started on February 23, 2007 and not April 28, 2007?

Acelino Freitas's second reign as WBO Lightweight champion started on April 29, 2006 and (as far I was aware) ended on April 28, 2007 when he lost to Juan Diaz.

Juan Diaz, who was already the WBA Lightweight champion, therefore (I previously thought) became the WBO Lightweight champion on April 28, 2007, as well as the WBA Lightweight Super champion.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Johnny O[edit]

The article Johnny O has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable singer; all albums red-linked. Appeared to be about two separate people before I saw this article (the thirteen-year-old pop singer Johnny Orlando AND a Puerto Rican "Johnny O". It is poorly written with no hope of saving it.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
