Thanks, Ben! It looks like it might be rather long. Though, I think I'll make a separate article for readymades. Most of the Duchamp images will likely be deleted from wiki soon, since they're on commons as public domain.

BTW: the "art factor" we discussed earlier... check out The Creative Act by Marcel Duchamp. (1957)

Thanks for the link. I just read it. So it was "art coefficient" and not "art factor." I found the text at the installation in Yokohama a bit more inspiring than that text though.

I had some free time to thoroughly read the Duchamp article and some of the "sub"-articles (a lot of which you created I noticed). I had a very good time.

The article is not that long as you say. I saw you have still a lot of material you want to add about Chess playing, readymades, etc. I think it's only getting more interesting and if it gets too long that's what wikilinks are there for, right?

I found it extremely interesting to read about the speculations that his readymades were not really readymade. If that's the case and he didn't tell anybody then it's really a great joke! I put the image of Da Vinci's Mona Lisa next to his Mona Lisa in the Duchamp article. They differ a lot actually. Please do more readymade articles, if you can. I want to read about Mona Lisa (Duchamp).

BTW, please wikify your contribution page. You make it hard for people who actually want to read what you wrote.

Nuclear energy policy

Hello

Thank you for your comment about Nuclear "phase out" copying to nuclear energy policy. First of all I would like to explain myself. All in all two paragraphs have been copied to nuclear policy article. One is part about Netherlands. I copied it because old one was just an old version of nuclear phase out paragraph that I updated and moved to policy page. I do believe that that article is good for energy policy. I think that that one is an exception. For example it would be wrong to move Sweden as article on policy page deals with several aspects. Not just phase out. I felt that Netherlands paragraph could be moved there.

Second one was about nuclear security. Security standard. Again it was copy of old version from nuclear phase out or vice versa. That one can apply to both articles. In other words arguments against phase out and for nuclear are more the less the same. Same goes for vice versa. That is not truth however for other parts of the article.

Ok, I see your changes make sense.

I am under pressure of people who want to merge and split the two articles all the time so I am very cautious to keep them apart a little, though they have to be written more or less in parallel, with different foci - not an easy task. My idea was to have all the info first in nuclear power phase-out and then move relevant parts to nuclear energy policy and summarize them in nuclear power phase-out. Hi Ben. I meant notify you about this the other week (but forgot) - Four Corners, a reputable Australian Broadcasting Corporation series, had a programme on nuclear energy, or specifically, the contrasting debates about it in Sweden and Australia. Thanks for your comment, Piotrus. I am not sure, whether it is right to just search for some references (and on-line in amazon.com what is more) as I have done. However, the Wikipedia:Cite_your_sources guide is not completely clear about it. On one side (from the word) references are from where you cite. Then (on the other side), references are where other people can verify the information, similar to external links, but not the same (do you agree on the two meanings?). With this latter sense in mind I put the book as a reference. I also think I saw this practice with some other article (forgot where). A problem is, conceded, I don't know the book. But then, I think, the information in the article is general enough to be found in nearly any book on the topic (and the book I put seemed reasonable enough). What do you say? I admit I was once confused as well, and added sources to references without actually reading them. Now I know better, and I try to teach others that there is a difference. A source which may contain useful info, but has - to the best of one's knowledge - not been used in the article, should go either to 'Further reading' or 'External links' (or 'See also'). 'References' is only for sources that have been cited in the article, and the best practice is to link the relevant facts from main body to the reference via Wikipedia:Footnotes.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus ^Talk 16:01, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

Leaving the concrete case aside (where I even don't know the source), the guidlines in Wikipedia:Cite_your_sources are not that strict: (citing)

In general, even if you are writing from memory, you should actively search for authoritative references to cite. If you are writing from your own knowledge, then you should know enough to identify good references that the reader can consult on the subject — you will not be around forever to answer questions. The main point is to help the reader and other editors.

I guess rules may need some improvement. My rule of thumb is if you are pretty sure it is a good reference, explaining most of the issues of the article, you can add it even if you had just read the abstract. Google Print is pretty helpful here. However, as I wrote above, what we should idealy strive for is referencing every fact with footnotes (but I realize it is quite impossible now, so I am adding this tag to the articles lacking sources, not those lacking footnoted sources). Regarding Neural Networks organisation

Hello there, I saw your edit and comment and so I was wondering what is your opinion on the current Neural Networks article. I made some improments (I hope) recently - and I added as extensive sections as I dared on neural networks in AI-related applications and on the modelling of real neural systems. Do you think I should remove some of the AI related stuff from this article and move it over to ANNs? --Olethros 23:37, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

I think the article should be not much more than a disambiguation between artificial and biological neural networks (the reviewer from nature was probably ignorant about wikipedia and the artificial neural network article, he was supposed to review instead). The article could contain something about the history of ANNs and a comparison between artificial neural networks and neural networks, nothing more. IMHO, the article now contains far too much technical information about ANNs that belong in the ANN article.

Where'd you get the info on the history of Tanzania from? It seems like a huge addition to the main page. Most main pages of countries that I have seen have short history sections. sensory substitution

It seems you originated the subject article.

A bit of history: in 1963 I worked for Carter Collins at the Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute as did a young (then) Dr. Paul Bach-y-Rita, whom you credit with the TVSS.

I moved on to the development of the RIAS (Remote Infrared Audible Signage) and remember our excitement at starting with what clearly was a flawed premise in the area of sensory substitution. There were numerous devices before and since all of which have a mistaken set of assumptions about sensation.

However from the POV of a wikipedia editor I thought you might be interested in that history.

Your edit on my User page

I appreciate the intention and I realize it was a tiny edit, but please do not make edits like that on User pages. It is permissible to do things like fix links. I sometimes will disambiguate a link or make a link direct on a User page, and a couple of times I have corrected factual errors involving me. However, in general, a User's page is their own, within broad limits. Rarely, users might post illegal things on their User pages or post attacks against other users or groups of people, and these have to be removed, usually by an Administrator. In the specific case here, I reverted your edit because an article can't appear on the Main page, they are too large, so only small entries from them or links to them appear. I note that your User page uses almost identical wording to that which you changed on mine, i.e. "the entry". Hu 21:24, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Hitler and Siebengebirge

You're the one who worked on both Adolf Hitler and Siebengebirge. Can you answer a question for me? Do you know if A. Hitler ever attached significance to the Seven Hills near Linz, as a comparison to the seven hills of Rome? I've heard that he wanted to turn Linz, Austria into a new Rome and cultural capital of Europe. I'm trying to track down if there was a connection there. Thanks. That article is about Berlin, though, not Linz. The Linz article includes a couple lines about how Hitler wanted to rebuild Linz and make it into a cultural center. It doesn't mention the hills, though.

If Hitler could see that modern art museum at the bottom of the page, he'd probably spin in his grave. :)

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. i "defend" myself: ideally, we should have just two main sections in a player/manager storyline. If you go with CLUB CAREER and INTERNATIONAL CAREER, then coaching stuff should be inserted in whichever is the situation (a guy could be coaching a club, or a national team).

Es gibt die Category:Hotels bzw Kategorie:Hotel und, nur bei :de, zusätzlich die Kategorie:Hotelbau. Mein Artikel zum einzigen Parish in London ist Queen’s Park (City of Westminster). Proposed deletion of Normal conditions
