Picture[edit]

I reduced the prominence of User:Jkl sem's picture in this article to something more like what we normally have; I'm not sure it's the best picture to illustrate the article though. (1) It is a bit too much of a tourist snapshot, what with the guy posing in front of the building. (2) Seattle Center actually has some pretty notable architecture (the Space Needle, EMP, the Pacific Science Center), but I would not say that Center House (a former armory converted to a food court, some theaters, conference rooms, and offices) is of much visual interest at all. -- Jmabel | Talk 08:32, Dec 20, 2004 (UTC)

Century 21 Exposition[edit]

I'm working heavily on Century 21 Exposition. If someone wants to expand this article, I suspect that a number of the sources I am using there would be helpful. - Jmabel | Talk 00:55, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FWIW, I did a lot there. That is now a "good article". I just now found a fascinating source that I have added as an external link here and there: "Seattle Center", p. 18–24 in Survey Report: Comprehensive Inventory of City-Owned Historic Resources, Seattle, Washington, Department of Neighborhoods (Seattle) Historic Preservation, offers an extremely detailed account of the history of the buildings and grounds. It would be very worthwhile to "mine" it for background. I'm not sure quite how it should be parceled between the two articles, but I'd say that up to and including 1962 belongs in the Exposition article and post-1962 here, with a cross-reference to the relevant section for the earlier history. Any objections? - Jmabel | Talk 00:29, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New aerial photo[edit]

I recently uploaded an aerial photo of a portion of Seattle Center, below. Feel free to use if useful. Dcoetzee 09:57, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

International Fountain[edit]

The article says the International Fountain was built for the 1962 World's Fair. I'm pretty certain that the present fountain is not the one from 1962, and that the original was replaced after an adult playing in the fountain had a serious injury. The original had extruding pipes; the current fountain does not. - Jmabel | Talk 23:25, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, there was an extensive remodel, late 80s? It's a continuation of the same, it isn't wrong to say it was built for the fair, but it should say the current version is a re-model. Would be awesome to have pics of both. The bowl was changed quite a bit as well. This one is deeper, the previous was steeper (and I don't think it had ramps) SchmuckyTheCat (talk)
(no, no ramps, and the climb down was stones, not just concrete, stones [1] ) SchmuckyTheCat (talk)
