I thought the term specifically meant the attempt to use natural birth control, by attempting to determine the infertile period of the woman's cycle via temperature measurements, etc. and limiting coitus to the infertile period. Dpbsmith 20:18, 2 Jun 2004 (UTC)

That's what I thought as well. Meelar 20:21, 2 Jun 2004 (UTC)
That seems backward, however. Russian roulette involves doing a dangerous thing for the thrill of it and hoping it won't hurt you - analogous to having unprotected sex if you don't want a child and hoping it won't hurt you (so to speak). The above description, on the other hand, is the opposite: Not doing a dangerous thing because it's more likely to hurt you. I am not familiar with the term in the wild, however. - DavidWBrooks
The similarity is that, if you're not shooting blanks, you're screwed. - Nunh-huh 19:18, 3 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Like Russian Roulette you do something and hope it doesn't harm you, by having unprotected sex with a woman, and pulling out at the last second, hoping that you did it in time to not concieve a child.
