That's a good start, but more clarity is needed in terms of to what region that first table is referring. Also, I would be loathe to include a tourist booklet, especially one from 1984, as a primary source for the Chichen Itza ceramics. I believe many of those dates have been revised (pushed back a bit), as well as the categories (Maya-Toltec, for instance). If we could stand to find a more recent source (even the Sharer tome would be good), that would be super-cool.

thanks, the tourist book i added as something most likely most simplified and seen the most, at least in one point in time. how the other timetable fits into a perception of how to see the whole Maya civilization at glance, i have no idea. ok back to studying the Ancrene Wisse article. Preclassic Lowland Pottery[edit]

Here's a list of Preclassic lowland pottery. Not included in the article yet because they need references, and many are recent discoveries.

Initial Middle Preclassic (ca. 1150 BC)
- Cunil (western Belize; only lowland pottery)
Early Middle Preclassic (ca. 900 BC)
- Jenney Creek (western Belize; derived from Cunil)
- Swasey-Bladen (northern Belize)
- Xe (southwestern Peten, related to Chiapas "Olmec"?)
- Ek (northwestern Yucatan, related to Jenney Creek)
Late Middle Preclassic (ca. 600-300 BC)
- Mamom (most of lowlands; derived from Jenney Creek)
- Early Nabanche (northwest Yucatan; derived from Ek)
Late Preclassic (ca. 300 BC - 200/400 AD)
- Chicanel (most of lowlands, especially Tikal; derived from Mamom)
- Late Nabanche (northwestern Yucatan; derived from Early Nabanche)

Form and Function[edit]

I believe that the form and function section of this article could be expanded upon given that the right sources are found. While the header mentions both form and function, the body of that section only mentions function. Function could be expanded on as well. What food and beverages were stored in ceramics? Decoration[edit]

Expansion of the Decoration section in this article seems necessary. Possibly additional information on the difference between the decoration of the wealthier-class's ceramics in contrast to the common-class's would be simple to include given the slight insight already stated in this section. This could potentially lead to subsections. The importance of the decoration would be another piece of additional information to help expand this section of the article. Further Expansion[edit]

The one link offered to an online source no longer exists. The article as a whole lacks in-line citations, has grammar issues, needs more sources, is brief in some sections, and a few spots include unnecessary opinions. Form and Function[edit]

I think the form and function section could be expanded upon. More could be said about the commemorations put on ceramics. What did they commemorate? Why did they use pottery to do this? Society around Ceramics[edit]

There is a lot of information in some sources that I have found that talk about what different types of ceramics represent a social structure based on what they were made of.
