Hello "Pyramidal" and welcome to Wikipedia. A few tips for you:

Blanking[edit]

For future reference, blanking pages is not the same as deleting them. It's also considered a really bad thing to do. -- Cyrius|&#9998 20:00, May 23, 2004 (UTC)

You're talking about the Sean Flowers page? That page was listed for quick deletion for vanity. I thought I was doing people a favor by deleting it. What should I have done? Pyramidal
Oh, nevermind. I just read the Candidates_for_speedy_deletion and the policy that only Sys-Ops should delete these pages. Thanks for bringing this matter to my attention. It won't happen again. Pyramidal 03:40, 26 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
You've still got a bit of confusion on the matter. Removing the content of a page is not the same as deleting it.
The Mediawiki software has a distinction between a deleted page (which does not exist), and a blank page (which exists, but has no content). A blank page will show up as existing when links are made to it. The thing about "only admins should delete pages" is that only admins can delete pages. It's one of the three(ish) abilities admins are trusted with.
You already understand that you shouldn't do it, I'm just trying to make it clear why. -- Cyrius|&#9998 05:08, May 26, 2004 (UTC)
