Why would "Universe" be the same in French? The French word for "Universe" is "Univers". [[User:Livajo|力伟|☺]] 22:37, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I assume this issue has been addressed, since a French title is now indicated in the article Slowmover 15:55, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
I removed the reference to a "McGill University" astronomer, as I believe the astronomer (Donald Macrae) is from the U of T, which operates the observatory where the documentary was filmed. I will check this out. I have a VHS copy of the film and will verify more details (such as the "flare" reference, which I think is incorrect). This was a very well regarded film of the NFB at the time of its release, using drawings and animation to depict the universe at a time when no photographs of the planets had ever been taken. Perhaps because of this somewhat fictional or conjectural element, the film merited discussion in John Baxter's Science Fiction in the Cinema (1969). Slowmover 15:55, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Donald MacRae (b. 1916) is/was an astronomer at U of T, with a PhD from Harvard (1943). He was director of the David Dunlap Observatory from 1965 to 1978 [1]. Here are some more web refs:
