Capitalization on Japanese Names

Just FYI. There is a custom in for the Chinese and Japanese to write their last names in all caps ins English so as to distinguish more clearly which is the last name; as it is not too distinguishible in the Western world.

This may be a Chinese/Japanese custom, but I don't believe it's a Wikipedia one. If you have examples of this use within Wikipedia, please show me. Remember that links in Wikipedia are case sensitive after the first letter, so we would need to have the display name different from the link name. If you feel strongly, by all means change it back, I'm not going to press the point further. --Gadfium 03:35, 30 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Grammar nitpicking

Under the "Comparisons" heading, the following sentence leaves me wondering whether "solutions" are distinct from "methods," and how else Xen might be considered "other": "Cooperative Linux is significantly different from traditional virtualization solutions such as VMware, plex86, Virtual PC, and other methods such as Xen, which generally work by running the guest OS in a less privileged mode than that of the host kernel." Nomachine and FreeNX

Given that cooperative linux does not yet support a Linux X server I have found that the easiest thig to do is to run FreeNX server under co-operative Linux and the Nomachine client (actually an X server) under Windows. You then create a Microsoft loopback interface ( a dummy LAN port ) for the X apllications on colinux to talk to the Nomachine client on Windows over the loopback port. dieselnutjob

Package management

Does coLinux manages packages in the Debian way (*.deb, apt-get...) or in the Red Hat way (*.rpm ..). Can one download or install coLinux with Debian inside ?.--Mac (talk) 18:16, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

coLinux is really a Virtual Machine, similar to VMWare or Xen -- it is not an operating system. A package manager is part of the operating system. There are several coLinux projects which run Ubuntu, such as andLinux[1] & Ulteo Virtual Desktop [2]. I believe that there are some other projects using Fedora, Slackware, etc. Within 'andLinux', I can use all of the regular Ubuntu tools, such as 'apt-get install traceroute'. -=Gigglesworth (talk) 22:17, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Bogus images should be removed

I agree that the "screenshots" are confusing. I run Linux only so don't have the ability to take screenshots of CoLinux in action. But I think it would help the reader of the article if they could see what it actually looks likes to use and run it. Cinemageddon (talk) 06:20, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

contradiction

The sections "Overview" states first, that both systems are twins. Then it tells you, that this is actually impossible and hence one is the father of the other. I'd call this a contradiction. --Boobarkee (talk) 14:31, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

strange hardware?

This article talks about strange hardware or an unusual hardware structure that makes colinux installs difficult to make. However it does not mention why it is unusual or how. If the article is updated I think that part warrants a bit more attention.

Based on the description of how people create images I suspect it is unusual primarily in that:

1. Non-standard boot sequence: It doesn't need an MBR/partition table for the main FS and already provides a kernel/filesystem. Normal installation media wont boot. 2.
