Untitled[edit]

I removed:

Political parties in Hong Kong lists political parties in Hong Kong.

The sentence is useless and doesnt expand on the title of the page.

Ways to browse Wikipedia for political parties are by name of the party, country, ideology or by membership of internationals and through the category system: especially by country and ideology.

See Wikipedia:Avoid self-references. Try adding a "see also" list at the end of the article.

==Introduction==

The lead section is the "introduction.

A political party is a political organization subscribing to a certain ideology or formed around very special issues with the aim to participate in power, usually by participating in elections.
See political party for a more comprehensive discussion.

A definition of "political party" here is not necessary and not relevant. The link to political party is enough. --Jiang 00:25, 8 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Reaction[edit]

I added links at the see also section. Furthermore, I do not agree that a definition in an article on parties in HK is not necessary or relevant. So I reverted that. I agree that we shouldn't use Introduction for the lead section. I hope in this way we can agree/compromise. Gangulf 14:23, 8 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Transliteration[edit]

Could somebody transliterate the Chinese names of the Hong Kong parties. Electionworld 09:39, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Someone has already done the transliteration, but can anyone tell me why is it done in Mandarin? This is Hong Kong and we mostly use Cantonese. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 183.178.19.33 (talk) 16:59, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unequal Wikipedia treatment[edit]

It is a pity that so much has been done to spruce up the DP and Frontier (and other pro-dem) party pages on Wikipedia with sections, history, etc., yet so little has been done for the DAB and the Liberal Party. Is this blatant unequal treatment? jsw663 10:22, 1 February, 2006 (EST)

So please, add info. Electionworld = Wilfried (talk 13:51, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Political material is rarely neutral. Wikipedia is constructed on a democratised platform, such that information that exist do so due to its popularity. This implies that political parties with more information tend to be more popular amongst Wikipedia contributors. This is not always the case, and there are of course a lot of exceptions. Nonetheless, it works quite well in topics that draw a lot of publicity. Supporters of other political parties are welcome to contribute referenced material to Wikipedia, so that topics may be presented in a more balanced light. 218.103.134.139 (talk) 05:55, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lack of Description[edit]

It's all very well having a list. However, the list is useless without some basic descriptions, such as the year each party was formed, whether it is left or right leaning, whether it is liberal or conservative etc, and how influential they are based on how many council seats they hold. Are readers expected to click inside each and every link to glean this information? Remember, most people who seek this page are those who know nothing about HK politics. They cannot tell the difference between main political parties and fringe groups 218.103.134.139 (talk) 05:49, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Political Parties in Hong Kong Section[edit]

Can someone please edit the "Political Parties in Hong Kong" section? It lists political groups as well as parties, which can be very misleading. Either leave out the political groups, or edit the title to "Political Parties and Groups in Hong Kong". For instance, the Hong Federation of Trade Unions is not a political party. 218.103.134.139 (talk) 06:06, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Major Portions of this Page Require Post Election Updating[edit]

When the dust settles in the next few days, it would be nice if a conscientious and knowledgeable Hong Konger could update LEGCO composition and political party information. The public in general and academics worldwide rely on Wikipedia for broad and accurate insight. 5 Sept 2016 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.218.182.3 (talk) 11:25, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
