"Synthesizer" quote[edit]

I believe it was "and nobody played synthesizer", not "no synthesizers".

Personnel[edit]

I have tidied up the personnel list to conform the wikipedia album template. Apologies to whoever obvious put some effort into trying to format it as an exhaustive list of the various roles band memebers played, however to be honest I found it very confusing and messy - the standard template is much clearer.--feline1 23:34, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Queen Queen USA.jpg[edit]

Image:Queen Queen USA.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 11:16, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seven Seas Of Rhye[edit]

I have a reissue of this record and the title comes as "Seven Seas Of Rhye" without the "..." Which is the right title? Khaozete (talk) 18:14, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Genres[edit]

Why were my edits to genre reverted? I cited them through allmusic.com; was that not enought? Krobertj (talk) 22:31, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See the discussion at the main Queen page. You were told why Queen albums are not detailed in the box and yet you went ahead and changeed them away from the Queen projects consensus. Aussie Ausborn (talk) 23:26, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't there a concensus that several of these tracks fall under progressive and/or hard rock? Most sites out there will give you one of those descriptors rather than the extremely vague umbrella term of "rock". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.107.152.131 (talk) 21:15, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Antireligious Lyrics?[edit]

I am by no means religious, in fact I'm an atheist, so I have no problem with seeing anti-religious lyrics where they exist. However I think the line about not believing all you read in the bible could just as easily be just a line that makes sense in the context of the song, and that has to do with the character of Great King Rat. I don't think there is enough evidence to state that these lyrics are anti-religious, so I will remove that statement.Fireemblem555 (talk) 06:21, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, and the fact that there is a song on this same album called Jesus...lol —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.229.59.15 (talk) 18:43, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Great King Rat[edit]

Does anybody know any sources, where I can read something about this song, it's very needful for my article in Russian Wikipedia. Probably, this song is about Antichrist.--Ole Førsten (talk) 12:34, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Genres again[edit]

Who went around and messed up the genres on some of the Queen albums? "Rock" by itself is vague and doesn't do it justice. It was perfectly fine beforehand. 108.81.33.59 (talk) 22:12, 20 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Me: the long-standing consensus is that only "Rock" goes in the genre field for any Queen song. Stop edit warring. Radiopathy •talk• 01:31, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, the genres should be listed as Rock, Progressive Rock, Heavy Metal--109.125.17.121 (talk) 20:00, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to have leverage in setting the genre then you need to cite a published source. A strong personal opinion is not sufficient. Binksternet (talk) 21:01, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Adding glam rock to the genre as referenced in the book "Legends of rock guitar: the essential reference of rock's greatest guitarists".UndoubtedlyMe (talk) 19:11, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - Queen is not and never has been Glam, even if someone says so in a book. However Queen + Adam Lambert probably should be. - FlightTime Phone (open channel)
@UndoubtedlyMe: Please do not add your preferred genre until a consensus is reached here. - FlightTime Phone (open channel) 19:16, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Queen is not and never has been Glam, even if someone says so in a book" doesn't sound very WP:NPOV. Please do not ignore/override accepted references for your own personal beliefs. UndoubtedlyMe (talk) 19:23, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please try and stay within normal talk page formatting. Thank you, - FlightTime Phone (open channel) 19:31, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, I'll use the correct format.UndoubtedlyMe (talk) 19:40, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
However, you deleted a referenced genre, and your "reason" for deleting it consists of you insisting that your opinion is correct. Safe to say, your reasoning is inadequate.UndoubtedlyMe (talk) 19:40, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I restored the article to a version before your added content became an issue per WP:STABLE. Besides, your reference is included in the challenged content. Move on, - FlightTime Phone (open channel) 19:45, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I don't agree with "Flight" that Queen had no connection to glam, but that was later on when they started making videos and appearing on TOTP. However, the "Legends of Rock Guitar" source (which is an excellent book BTW) is making a more general point about the sound of Queen as a band, not that Queen's first album was glam rock. Glam rock was very much music that was aimed at the singles chart, it was pop music like Slade and The Sweet. At the outset, Queen wanted to be Led Zeppelin more than anything else and that's very much the Queen of the first album. Rodericksilly (talk) 07:47, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Quote from UCR[edit]

An anonymous user has been going through as many Queen related pages as they can (at least ones that aren’t blocked from being edited) and deleting anything that relates Queen to “heavy metal.” As frustrating as this is, considering it’s been widely regarded that Queen had an aspect of heavy metal in their music, I understand that in a lot of cases there was no citation that said that they were heavy metal in the first place. However, the user took it too far when they edited a direct quote from Ultimate Classic Rock about this album. The quote was “mostly *Queen* is a product of its time, bringing together prog, metal and even a little bit of folk music.” The user just straight up took out the word “metal.” So I was wondering if I could at least revert that, since the last time I tried to revert one of this user’s edits I got reverted myself. But in this case it’s a direct quote. Henoryry (talk) 04:40, 24 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted your edit as it appeared you were adding an unsourced genre however I see now you were reinstating the info the IP user had just removed. That said, the article does not call this a heavy metal album but rather that it was influenced by the genre. Feel free to add that back to the prose but remember this does not describe the album itself as heavy metal, so not to the genre section of the infobox. Hope that makes sense.
