Untitled[edit]

I am somewhat puzzled about the figures for a number of smaller islands in the table. Does the table refer to an administrative district or something of that kind? Cheers, Kosebamse 17:05 25 May 2003 (UTC)

The problem with this article is that it confounds the island of Saaremaa, and the county of Saaremaa, the former being a part of the latter. Andres 11:30, 22 Aug 2003 (UTC)

The article (and possibly the picture) should be changed to only refer to the island, and the parts about the county should be moved to Saare County. Also, anything that links to Saaremaa with the meaning of the county, should be changed to link to Saare County. PeepP 12:12, July 11, 2005 (UTC)

Name[edit]

The article Hiiumaa talks about an older Finnish name Yösalo = night island, which is a different ethymology than currently described here. It would be nice to see references to literature conserning the name ethymology. --LA2 (talk) 13:34, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Soviet graves and memorial pictures[edit]

There is no reason to remove these images. They are part of the island's history and culture. Including them is making NO positive statement about the Soviet Union and its brutal occupation of Estonia and other countries. Please leave them in place. Area[edit]

I would suggest to verify the area. The German Wiki-project has done that and concluded that the area is 2672 km². In List of islands of Estonia it is 2671 km². -- Bk1 168 (talk) 19:49, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Photos[edit]

Does anyone have photos of Angla or Piret & Toll?

Removing template message under Famous Residents?[edit]

Hello, given that the links are all to other Wikipedia pages, I'm not sure this request for citations is necessary anymore? They will be adequately supported on their linked pages (and if not, then requests for better citation should probably go one those pages) Happy to take care of removing it but wanted to check in first in case there is history here I don't know about!
