It is 300 years since the birth of David Hume today, why is this not being noted on the front page? He is the most important philosopher to ever write in the English language. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.29.148.181 (talk) 01:40, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is the graphic designer a noteworthy person, the link is a mistake to another person. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lyuokdea (talkcontribs) 19:02, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Russia?[edit]

Russia? Not the Soviet Union? Can someone explain what this means? and is it significant? Kingturtle 07:29, 9 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Why does masturbation day keep getting yanked? Yes, on the outside, one might consider it controversial, but the fact is, May 7th is Masturbation Day, May is masturbation month, and yes, it is celebrated all over the san francisco bay area and beyond. Is this not a sight to post facts? I don't understand why this is such a fight. Leave it alone.

Good choice of phraseology - "Why does masturbation day keep getting yanked?" ;). If you can give us an external source of information, we will leave it on the page. Fair? Ck lostsword|queta! 14:40, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dude, you shouldn't have made that bet.[1][2][3][4][5] Looks like this will be the 11th, er, year. Rklawton 04:55, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
So is it fair to allow this modification. It's masturbation day TODAY and I am putting it in.
That's fine - I wasn't criticising, just asking for citation. Since that's been provided, we're fine for inclusion. Ck lostsword|queta! 17:21, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since it's not a national or significant religious holiday, it won't be permitted in this article. The date project page supercedes any talk page discussion here. Rklawton 15:02, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Who says? What standards department regulates what gets celebrated by who and where? Radio day isn't a day I celebrate. It's not a national holiday for the US, but noone is deleting it. A community in America celebrates a day, hell, an entire month. Who are you to say who recognises this day or not? If it were not of "questionable subject" then you wouldn't care, but here you are deleting it. Leave it alone. It's factual and cited. What more do you need? Coreyfro

This is abitt off topic, but apparently there is a "Boob-Grab day" I dont know if the people older than me were just kidding to grab hold of each other in public or if it is real or not.Hope. 22:54, 1 July 2006 (UTC)hope.[reply]

Shouldn't it just be national holidays that are listed? Is masturbation day celebrated through out the US? Surely only national holidays or very famous days should be listed otherwise there'll be so many on each page! Every town which has some kind of day could have that listed! Subject matter doesn't bother me but I don't think this is a relevant day to list.

For what it's worth, the fact that it was created by a business IN the business for the "holiday" should have it "yanked". It's an ad for sex toys. -- Borameer 22:43, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that Tim Richmond's year of death was not listed after his Births entry (May 7, 1955). Hurrmic 00:38, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He shouldn't be on this article - he was born on June 7. Jim Michael (talk) 04:06, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus for adding "23176 Missacarvell" asteroid discover[edit]

Hallo there everyone,
requesting comments for adding in the "article events section" section the 23176 Missacarvell asteroid discover on the 7th of May 2000. Thanks.   M aurice  11:37, 21 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't appear to have any particular importance. What would make it different than any of the other thousands of asteroids? -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 13:06, 21 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: 1998 entry. According to all sources I can find, Mercedes-Benz did not buy Chrysler... its parent company, Daimler-Benz, did - hence the DaimlerChrysler name. The intention was to get Daimler-Benz's luxury division, Mercedes-Benz, to help Chrysler but that didn't work out - leading to the biggest failed merger in corporate history(!) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.160.231.177 (talk) 09:41, 8 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

St Stanislaus[edit]

I think that if saints are put in according to the old Roman calendar instead of the current calendar it could get crowded fast. I'm not in favor. But if they are kept, as in this case, a link to Roman Martyrology is not helpful, as there are several different versions. It would need to be linked to the 1960 General Roman Calendar - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Roman_Calendar_of_1960#May --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 15:01, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
