Layout proposals[edit]

I have made some year layout proposals which would affect this page: the year in topic paragraph would be replaced with a see also box.

Corner Stone of University of the South[edit]

October 10 - The original cornerstone of the University of the South is laid in Sewanee, Tennessee.

I removed the above - I'm not clear on how the laying of the cornerstone is on a level of importance with the first phonographic recording or the defeat of the last army of The Two Sicilies. Scott de Martinville and his recording[edit]

"April 9 – French typesetter Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville has his daughter sing the French folk song "Au Clair de la Lune" on his phonautograph; producing the world's earliest known sound recording (however, it is not rediscovered until 2008)."

According to http://www.firstsounds.org/sounds/scott.php the researchers were incorrect in their playback speed; it appears that the singer may be Scott de Martinville himself. Based on this, should the above entry be changed to reflect that? --FeanorStar7 (talk) 12:10, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
