Movement[edit]

Does anyone know which way this pitch moves?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Adam Conover (talkcontribs) 20:30, June 8, 2004

Down, somewhat faster than a four-seamer. DOR (HK) (talk) 08:39, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am a left-handed pitcher myself and the 2-seam is one of my best out pitches, and it is slightly slower in velocity than a 4-seam fastball, if not the same velocity, and it dives down and, at least for me, it also has some cut towards a left-handed batter. A right handed pitcher's two seam will move down and in to a right handed batter, down and in to a lefty batter —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.183.235.134 (talk) 22:36, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The pitch moves down and _toward_ a same-handed batter. That is a right-hand Pitcher's two-seamer moves in on a right-handed batter. So it moves away, like a same-handed breaking pitch, against an opposite-handed batter. The article says that a sinker is a close relative of this pitch but they are just different terms for the same pitch. If the ball is a bit slower and maybe breaks a bit more, they call it a sinker. 71.192.59.174 (talk) 02:23, 15 November 2012 (UTC)Will in New Haven71.192.59.174 (talk) 02:23, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
