Darn it, I thought I'd just clean up a few of the links to Brisbane that meant Brisbane in Qld., and leave the rest for someone else. Started with the most likely looking ones. Then I did a few more. And a few more. And .... every darn one of them was intended to go to the Brisbane in Qld! Now Brisbane is an orphan!

Sigh.

No. Brisbane is not an orphan. (well I guess it is technically). As I live in Brissy, I decided to make it the guinea pig for my view of what others call, "disambiguation pages". See my little rant on Wikipedia talk:Disambiguation. I'm in the middle of cleaning up the two redirects Brisbane, Australia and Brisbane (Australia). I would really appreciate your view on my rant on the Talk page. Gaz 12:20 Mar 5, 2003 (UTC)

I removed a number of duplicate wikilinks to Queensland and Australia in line with Wikipedia policy on wikilinks.SauliH 06:00, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

brisbane qld should be a result of disambiguation[edit]

with all the other significant entries brisbane qld should be on a par with the other brisbane entries and not an exclusive direct, what do others think , cheers Anlace 15:55, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can I suggest we get back to basics here! A Disambiguation page is there to clarify between different places/people/things with the same name, not to be a directory for all articles with Brisbane in the title. Thus all entries relating to the Brisbane, Queensland area should either be included in or linked to the main Brisbane article, or frankly they will be found by direct search (for example, searching 'Brisbane River'). See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages). So I've comletely refreshed the page, removing spurious links but including names (and ships!) not previously mentioned. ....and now - 18 months later - I've had to do it again! Disambiguator (talk) 02:57, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
