Untitled[edit]

I notice he was mentioned in Popular Scientist. Apparently some people think he's a crank because of his controversial views on big bang theory. Accroding to Popular Science, "On the rare occasions he’s asked to speak at a conference, zealots shout him down while the rest of the audience snickers. He endures constant insult from young upstarts such as Sean Carroll of the University of Chicago, whose blog belittles big-bang deniers: “They just aren’t, for the most part, very smart.” Burbidge takes refuge in his native British stoicism. “It’s just the road to conformity,” he says. “They’re all happier thinking alike.”" [1] - Ta bu shi da yu 13:24, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Inappropriate language[edit]

As a participant of UCSD Astronomy serminars, I have regular contact with Professor Burbidge. "Gadfly" is a derogatory term that does not belong in Wikipedia. I have found Professor Burbidge to be kind, considerate, and a gentleman. I am removing "gadfly" from his Wikipedia biography. My Flatley (talk) 23:16, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
