Justin Vermillion, born December 27, 1984, in Terre Haute, Indiana, United States is the current Supreme Pontiff of the Sagamore line of sedevacantist antipopes.
Career Highlights[edit]
Under the name Pope Sextus XIV, Justin Vermillion has reigned as the Supreme Pontiff since February 2003. Since his election by the Board of Cardinals of the Sagamore sedevacantist sect, Sextus XIV has visited several countries, including Belgium, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Canada, and Italy. He has spoken at over 35 events in the United States, including several high school and college commencement ceremonies, two congressional hearings, and has officiated Holy Mass for the deaths of several congressmen.
In March of 2005, Sextus XIV paid a visit to the Chickasaw Nation in Ada, Oklahoma. There, he visited and blessed many sick and elderly Native Americans.
Career Goals[edit]
Sextus XIV has been quoted as having the following goals for the remainder of his term as Bishop of the Sagamores:
- Expand knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church to areas in the Southern United States that do not currently have a high tolerance for the Catholic faith.
- Continue missionary work in Europe and North America.
- Build a new cathedral in Indiana, for the purpose of housing the government of the Sagamore line.
- Expand respect for the sacrament of reconciliation
Pre-Papal Life[edit]
Pope Sextus XIV began his religious life as Fr. Justin Vermillion, being ordained in January of 2000. Shortly after his ordination, Fr. Vermillion was approached by the Cardinals of the Sagamore line, offering him a position as Bishop of the Indiana area. After his appointment as Bishop in 2001, Fr. Vermillion was given the title of Monseigneur by then-pope Pius V.
Msr. Vermillion was raised to the rank of Cardinal by Papal Order in the summer of 2002. Under this title, Cardinal Vermillion governed over the Midwest, until November of 2002, when he was appointed chamberlain under Pius V.
Upon the death of Pius V in January 2003, Cardinal Vermillion was elected his successor by the Board of Cardinals, with 502 votes out of a possible 534. He assumed his role as Supreme Pontiff on 2 February 2003.
