Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy your stay here and use your editing powers wisely. Feel free to drop me a message at the "talk" link beside my name. Good luck! --MerovingianTalk 06:06, Mar 23, 2004 (UTC)

Hfwd, your edits reveal a medical background. Care to join the Wikiproject "Clinical medicine"? JFW | T@lk 19:24, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I got the impression you were a doctor. Nothing is "expected" of you, but it would be nice if we could consult you on technical matters. What is your field of expertise/interest/both? There are a lot of biochemistry topics on Wikipedia in dire need of coverage! (PS you can sign posts to talk pages by typing four tildes, like this ~~~~; this will automatically insert a link to your userpage and the timestamp). Like this: JFW | T@lk 23:35, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)

AMYLOID! If you're in the UK you're in the Royal Free, otherwise I don't know. JFW | T@lk 23:57, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)
"talk" in the tagline is something I've set up a long time ago, and I'm not sure how I did it :-). It's done by messing with Special:Preferences - I've replaced my nickname with JFW]] | [[User_talk:Jfdwolff|<small>T@lk</small>. You could simply replace JFW with Hfwd. You're very welcome. I hope you're having a nice time here. --yan! | Talk 02:20, Dec 7, 2004 (UTC)

Congratulations, short bowel syndrome has been included in the latest DYK update! [[User:MacGyverMagic|Mgm|(talk)]] 11:12, Dec 9, 2004 (UTC)

On ageing as a disease: Well, if it is a disease it's certainly a common one. Some people, such as biogerontologists, think it's a disease. Most people aren't accustomed to thinking of it as a disease. Does a condition have to be called a disease by a lot of people before it actually is one? I doubt it ..it either is or it isn't. The question is, should something that most people don't yet recognize as a disease yet be listed under "diseases" in Wikipedia? Maybe not. It would be nice if a tag could be put on it to signify that it's not generally viewed as one. If you have a problem with it, feel free to delete it. Personally, I don't have a problem with an encyclopedia that reveals minority opinion, as opposed to one that just rehashes information that the general public already knows. Your call. (RJII)

I wanted to let you know that I made some big changes to your new article on tapeworm infections. Some of the information was too general, so I fixed it. For example, cysticercosis is caused by the pork tapeworm, and the symptoms, prognosis, and diagnosis are totally different from the symptoms of infection by tapeworm adults. If you want to work together on this article, I'd be happy to. Dave (talk) 01:25, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)

DYK[edit]

Updated DYK query Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article tungiasis, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently-created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Melasma suprarenale[edit]

This article needs editing for style and flow. I've put some of the author's other pages up for deletion, as they did not meet inclusion criteria. JFW | T@lk 19:33, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mr Wehmer should be asked what on earth he thinks he's doing, e.g. on his talkpage. Entries that are inventions belong on VFD, and those that have factual issues get a {{fact}} tag. If he appears to be pushing a particular view, {{NPOV}} is the word. If he carries on, a RFC may be necessary. JFW | T@lk 18:30, 14 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved melasma praegnans back to melasma, as this is a commoner term than chloasma (which should redirect to melasma). I need to have a good dig about all those famous doctors quoted by Wehner. He invents things (e.g. the Wehner blower), and this extends to his facts. If someone presents with "classical Addison's" (caused by TB) they are still given rifampicin. You're welcome. I'm happy to vote against cruft like this any time. Tonywalton

Tinea versicolor[edit]

I note from the edit-history that you previous contributed significantly to Tinea versicolor. I have grouped together the topical treatments as there is no distinction, in the UK, as to which agents may be obtained over-the counter or on prescription. I have previously summarised advice obtained from the UK Institue of Dermatology on treatment into a protocol factsheet, however wikipedia policy is not to add links to ones own website (but other editors may of course). - Please have a look at the Talk:Tinea versicolor page and comment as appropriate. Thank you :-) David Ruben Talk 01:20, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
