Inclusion of Journey From Darkness[edit]

There are actually two different games called Strider 2.

The first one (also known as Strider Returns), was made by (now defunct) british developer U.S. Gold and released for the Genesis, Master System, C64, and Amiga. It is widely regarded as a piss-poor game, with bland graphics and boring level design. Its only saving grace (on the Genesis version at least) was an impressive amount of digitized voices.

More recently, Capcom made a sequel for arcade and Playstation, giving it the same number - pretending that the aforementioned train-wreck-of-a-game by U.S. Gold has never existed at all.

But shouldnt the Stider2 that I once loved playing on my MegaDrive be in here too. I found a picture of something callled "Strider", but man, that ain't what it was. I want my REAL Strider 2 back. Now. In pictures, mentioned here!

Osman[edit]

Why is Osman mentioned on this page? It has nothing to do with either Journey From Darkness or Strider 2. The fact that some people consider it to be a "spiritual sequel" to Strider is irrelevant. Strider Hien[edit]

Confusion of Strider 2[edit]

The Journey From Darkness: Strider Returns and Strider 2 shouldn't be in the same article. I would change it, but I don't know how to do it perfectly, and I don't want to lose the information there. ~Blues Man Zero

Box Art[edit]

Could we maybe put a screencap up of the arcade game's title screen, instead of the PSX insert art? Would anyone object to that? Scion, LSCM Webmaster 21:47, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think game boxes are far more informative than title screens. You could also make a case for changing to the flyer[1], but I think it's best as it is now. Unless, of course, you can produce a good scan of the japanese cover. - Stormwatch 13:04, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't really matter what you "think" or not. What matters is accuracy, and the fact is that Strider 2 was initially released to arcades and then later ported to the PSone. If it were a PSone-only release it would be fine, but as it stands, it's misleading and inaccurate. The PSone version also happens to be different from the arcade version, in that the PSone version has an extra level (Mission 00), is missing lots of animation frames, and has an additional playable character (Strider Hien). The PSone box art could be included in the article, as a footnote explaining the differences between the arcade and home releases, but it shouldn't be the defining image for this game.
But as far as the Japanese cover's concerned, how about this? [2] It's not the cover itself, but it is the poster used for the cover. - Scion, LSCM Webmaster 17:02, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
