An article about a commercial mascot for phones. Not notable. silsor 23:13, Jan 13, 2005 (UTC)

  • Weak keep Certainly needs expansion but there are plenty of other advertising characters with articles. See Category:Advertising_characters Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 23:30, Jan 13, 2005 (UTC)
  • This may be my Canadian bias showing, but it seems that the characters in that category are well-known international or nation-wide characters, while the "Carphone Warehouse" seems to be limited to London, England. silsor 23:58, Jan 13, 2005 (UTC)
    • Not sure, as it's a bit outside my are of expertise (not a cel user myself) but they seem to be at least UK-wide, as they offer delivery to Northern Ireland and Northern Scotland. Maybe some kind UK-based Wikipedian could sort it out. Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 01:13, Jan 14, 2005 (UTC)
      • The Carphone Warehouse is nationwide. I've never heard of Mowbli (although I have heard of Mowgli). But I haven't heard any Carphone Warehouse advertisements recently, either. Until the character ranks up there with the ITV Digital monkey, this article is simple stealth advertising. Wikipedia is not a means for avoiding having to pay Google's advertising fees. Merge. Uncle G 19:42, 2005 Jan 14 (UTC)
  • Merge to company article. Gazpacho 23:55, 13 Jan 2005 (UTC)
  • Delete. Advertising. Not so well-known as to be a valid part of popular culture, and not of any historic importance. We do have articles on advertising characters—notable, historic advertising characters, such as Sunny Jim, who is mentioned in virtually every history of advertising, and Snap, Crackle and Pop, who are cultural icons, and known nationwide in the U. S. for decades. Dpbsmith (talk) 00:02, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC)
  • Keep. Seems likely that others (although admittedly not many) might be interested in this. - Jpo 00:13, Jan 14, 2005 (UTC)
    • without being interested in the company? Gazpacho
      • It's possible. Sometimes advert characters can become more famous and notable than the brands they represent. For example, most people probably don't care whether they buy Morton Salt or not, but they likely recognise the girl on the package. Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 02:48, Jan 14, 2005 (UTC)
  • Merge into Carphone Warehouse and redirect. Otherwise it would be a non-expandable article. JoaoRicardo 04:43, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC)
  • Merge and redirect. Mascot is not notable independent of the company now. In the unlikely event that it becomes so, recreate the article then. Putative future notability does not merit inclusion; otherwise we'd have to keep all the vanitycruft. —Korath (Talk) 05:23, Jan 14, 2005 (UTC)
  • Merge and redirect based upon Korath's reasoning above (not notable, but recreate if it does). 23skidoo 07:00, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC)
  • Redirect, merge and Delete, not enough cultural sway for its own article, which amounts to an ad. Wyss 22:00, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC)
  • Delete. Advertising. Will be forgotten within a few weeks of their ceasing to use him. Buzby (BT's telephone bird) is memorable but don't get a mention on Wiki. And the animation on their web site is nauseating. RHaworth 06:58, 2005 Jan 17 (UTC)
  • Merge While there is (was?) a 30 ft high version sitting on top of their main store on the way in to London from Oxford, it's not well known and I doubt will last many more campaigns. A brief mention on the CW page will do. Dtcdthingy 00:21, 19 Jan 2005 (UTC)

end moved discussion

Now merged with Carphone Warehouse - excellent - much better. -- RHaworth 08:56, 2005 Jan 21 (UTC)
