Cleaning the Plot[edit]

I have done my best to respect User Dieschwarzetur's work in cleaning up the plot. I still am not sure what the assesment may be as it is now. I hope no feelings are hurt. Hoverfish 18:43, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

After having done a second round of improvements, I am of the opinion that the plot flows nicely, given in a sweet style but comprehensively so. One can take a fairly good idea of the film's plot. The article may be missing some other sections, but this is another matter. Therefore I remove the cleanup template. If a future reassessment finds need of further cleanup, it may be put back. Image:Alice in wondrl.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Criticism[edit]

One critic, panning the 1998 version, complained that adaptations try to add plot to what is basically an episodic collection of bedtime story chapters. This version, however, adds the them that Alice is trying to find her way home. She's stuck behind the mirror by her own fears (of growing up). She tells the red queen she can't "play" because she must be going home, but she's told to become a queen first ("and then you may go home"). This parallels the plot in Wizard of Oz where Dorothy must "kill the witch" before she can go home.
