Talk:School grades (Canada)

The grades in the "Canada outside Quebec" part are listed with the number first (1st grade, etc), while under Quebec they are grade first (Grade 1, etc). In Ontario, or at least the places I have gone to school in Ontario, we always said "Grade 1." This seems to be the case for everyone else I know who went to school in different parts of Ontario (from London, to Hamilton, to Toronto, to Ottawa). I (and often other people I know) have always noticed this as a (probably stereotypical) distinction between the US and Canada - Canadians say "Grade 1" while Americans say "1st Grade." Is this just an Ontario thing? I'm not sure about the other provinces. I'm not even sure about all of Ontario... Adam Bishop 17:15, 16 Aug 2003 (UTC)

I put the Quebec listings in the form "Grade X" because that's more common, and because it would be consitant with the high school grades (I couldn't say 1st secondary, could I?). I have noticed that in Regina they say "Grade 1" and such. - Efghij 00:23, 19 Aug 2003 (UTC)
