Note[edit]

I don't have any background with this page, but it looks to me like the idea is to describe primarily non-governmental efforts to build peace among peoples, seeing as how we Israeli-Palestinian conflict already describes various proposed plans for a political solution, and we have List of peace proposals. As such, binationalism (which I happen to favor), and United Holyland, should be there and not here. Radicalsubversiv 19:13, 23 Apr 2004 (UTC)

American Jewish Comittee[edit]

This section needs its own page, the AJC's very worthwhile efforts on behalf of Arab-Americans and others have little or nothing to do with Israeli-Arab peace. ZacharyS 03:47, 8 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Beauty Pageant[edit]

The Daily Show had a feature on a beauty pageant that promoted peace between the two factions ("Extending an olive branch... IN MY PANTS!!") as recently as the second half of this year (post-set change). Does anyone know what it is? --69.140.24.166 05:21, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

some very nice things[edit]

Hey, there's some pretty nice organisations here...I hope that they can continue their good work!Domsta333 (talk) 03:05, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. This is a really heartening article to read; shows that not everything in Israel and Palestine is blood, sweat and tears as some would have us believe. Ghione (talk) 23:00, 08 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Quranic Verses misinterpretated[edit]

Hi Iam a Muslim and I just wanted to say that the Children of Israel are clearly in the Quran portrayed as a Muslim tribe and have nothing to do with Zionism at all as well as Iam an Arab and the translation of the Quranic verse talking about the Pharoph is wrong this verse talks about the children of Israel in the desert for 40 years before they finally go into canaan with Joshua and then were once again taken to Babylon but then were given a second chance to return back to the holy land

this has nothing to do with the modern zionist jewish philosophy because the quran clearly states the Israelite s AREN'T JEWISH NOR CHRISTIAN so anything concerning them shall concern the Muslims

I dont think its appropriate to misinterpret such Verses of the Quran without any knowledge about them .. I find it offending that people didn't take time to read the Quran properly so they know what exactly this verse is talking about

here is my source proving the Israelites are not JEWISH OR CHRISTIAN GOD CLEARLY INFORMED THE MUSLIMS ABOUT SUCH CONFUSION SO THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT MY POINT IS TRUE

Nay! were you witnesses when death visited Yaqoub(Jacob), when he said to his sons: What will you serve after me? They said: We will serve your god and the god of your fathers, Ibrahim (Abraham) and Ismail(Ishmael) and Is'haq(Isaac), one Allah only, and to Him we are Muslims. (2:133)

Chapter 002.Verse 132

And this was the legacy that Abraham left to his sons, and so did Jacob; "Oh my sons! Allah hath chosen the Faith for you; then die not except in the Faith of Islam

002.140 YUSUFALI: Or do ye say that Abraham, Isma'il Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes were Jews or Christians? Say: Do ye know better than Allah? Ah! who is more unjust than those who conceal the testimony they have from Allah? but Allah is not unmindful of what ye do!

God is clearly saying this to take out all the confusion .. its clear in simple language without any complexity and like I mentioned earlier the verses in the article talk about the entrance of the children of Israel after the 40 year period in the desert as well as later on they were given another chance when they left the Babylonian captivity and like Ive said earlier this tribe had no relation with Judaism so I dont see any reason for putting such wrong info and offending practicing Muslims.. thanks and my source is the holy book of Islam .. the holy Quran 193.188.105.20 (talk) 19:28, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For posterity, the term Muslim refers to someone who is pious in their religion, though the word itself is c. 1615, so nobody was known as a 'Muslim', but rather a pious person. Additionally, in this case the Quran contradicts established and known history that is thousands of years older in the making than the Quran. The 'Israelites' were known as Jews following the Babylonian captivity when their tribal affiliations were lost, therefore any 'Israelites' after the Babylonian captivity would have referred to themselves as Jews (meaning Of Judea, which was purportedly the largest tribe and therefore contained the majority of Israelites / Hebrews), which is directly in defiance of the claims of the Quran. Knowing that history is both older than the Quran and able to be confirmed with direct evidence, in this case the Quran is wrong. Cakiva (talk) 06:17, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
