I am a retired career railroader, 40 years with the Canadian Pacific Railway Operating Department based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I am a fourth generation CPR railroader. I hired on at age 14 and began in 1956 as a call boy waking up engine crews in the bunkhouse and train crews in the caboose. I became an engine dispatcher at the roundhouse in steam engine days, later a crew dispatcher and held a number of other positions until retiring in December 1996.

I have long had an interest in the history of the CPR and was considered their "resident expert" (their words) on steam, history etc. Un-official historian, in my words. My interest continues in retirement through my writings on my own web site, the largest in Canada of Canadian Railways and Stories, all written by railroaders.
