Hi, everybody Could everyone add ur information with the translation of Chinese terms, pinyin and the original book name , and use the format as follows?

For instance ,

resizing the photo[edit]

Hi all,

I added the photo of young Ye. However, i have technical difficulty in resizing the photo into a smaller one(coz it will look better, i don't want it to be larger than the first photo on top). I would be grateful if anyone can help! Besides, i find that we have 3 headlines that are about' contributions' But i cant see any clear cut between them. Concerning the style of writing and content to be included[edit]

Hi all,

Thx LAIsm for resizing the pic! My opinion is that there are too many'contributions'.I think the first one can be deleted. Besides, we have to distinguish 'contribution to literature' from ' contribution to Journalism ' I believe that literature is something more about the style of writing of Ye, say he was an writer of realism(which is already included) and then how his style affected others and their writing in contemporary literature..etc..

As for ' journalism', it may refer to his published work. But we have to be very careful when we catagarize items like his effort in language education, coz it may have contributed to both! Moreover, i think the writing style can have some changes. Now the content under 'literature' is just like commenting on/praising the writing of Ye, not really telling ppl his contribution.

Focus more on Mr. Ye 's journalist work[edit]

Hello everybody, As I find that we'd added too much information about Mr Ye's contribution to education and literature, yet his journalist work should not be ignore, can everyone help to find more information about this? (Remember Mr Ye is a famous publisher.)

I also agree that for the "literature" part, there are comment on his writing, this paragraph sound like appreciation. I suggest this part should be shorten, or add a sub-title to state how these writings are significant to his literacy work/ influence on readers/Chinese society or the world.etc.

hi all

i'd just like to add that, as taught in a lecture, wade-giles system is of certain importance if the age and background of the audience is unknown. It's because some, most of whom are of rather old age groups, have learnt the wade-giles system only.

that's why i've added it for Ye's name.

Great changes[edit]

Hi guys,

I have changed 'the influences in society' to 'ideologies'and rearranged the order. Pls feel free to give any opinions.BTW, i think we may have to rethink how we are going to present the information. Remain the same or make some changes? Having 'contribution to journalism' and ' contribution to literature' seem to be quite repetitive. Ye's name[edit]

I think having the 'box' of Ye's pronunciation isn't a bad idea. It's probably clear-er than writing down the pin-yin and all that in the same paragraph. I mean, if i didn't understand any chinese, i would probably find it hard to understand what all those names and pronunciations are all about!

all in all, i suggest keeping the little box of pronunciation guide.

grammar and pinyin[edit]

i've made some grammatical changes.

though i'm not sure which if 'through his wholelife' and 'throughout his years of life' mean exactly the same thing, i have changed in for simplicity.

btw, do you guys think the tone marks of the pinyin are necessary? i have browsed quite a number of official sites of the mainland government's and i find that none of them note the tone marks on any words!

one more question, why is one of the picture a celebrity?

Deleted information[edit]

I find that in the bibliography, there are publications which are not written by Mr Ye, just others' works, like "Ye Shengtao chuan lun" 《葉聖陶傳論》 1995 "Ye Shengtao ri ji" 《葉聖陶日記》1997 "Ye Shengtao yan jiu zi liao" 《葉聖陶研究資料》 1988 ,they seem like the reference book written by other authors, not Mr Ye himself. And "Novel Monthly"《小說月報》(1910-1932) has been included in the part of "publications" , so I deleted them. If necessary, pls add them into "More materials about Mr Ye", those are the reference materials relating to Mr Ye, yet they are written by others. Beware of Overlapping[edit]
