Hello[edit]

Hi Dr. Andrus!

Pleased to see you contributing here.

Take care! --eMarv 17:32, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not post your own resume on Wikipedia. It is considered a conflict of interest and will be speedily deleted. Wikipedia is not a free webspace provider. There are many free web hosting services you can use instead. Please contribute constructively to Wikipedia in the future. Thanks, and welcome to Wikipedia. Please also be sure to read WP:AUTO. And if you have any questions, please let me know.  :) --Elonka 15:17, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I'm a big fan of Kryptos. [1] :) --Elonka 15:41, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
(reply) Well, even if you didn't edit it directly, it's pretty obvious that Emarv (talk · contribs) is an associate of yours, which falls afoul of WP:AUTO and WP:COI. In any case, if you'd like the page deleted, the easiest way to handle it is to ask Emarv to add the {{db-author}} template to the top of the page, and then it'll go away pretty fast. And if you'd like further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask. Oh, and congrats on the slashdotting!  :) --Elonka 00:44, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Elonka, I wouldn't consider myself an associate of Dr. Andrus. I have met him maybe once though I don't think he necessarily knows me. If it pleases everyone, I will add the {{db-author}} template to the article, but I am not in agreement with it... (Agreement only by submission :) Anyone feel free to add the template, I won't disagree (but that doesn't mean I agree :). --eMarv 05:34, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Hello D. Calvin Andrus, I want to thank you for the excellent illustration you've made of the basics of complex systems theory. As you probebly have or havenot seen yet, we from the new Wikipedia:WikiProject Systems use this image on all our templates to promote the theory and practice of systems. Your image is used now in hundreds of pages. I hope this satisfies you as much as it does to me. Thanks again and good luck... - Mdd 00:20, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I am glad it is useful to you. I created it for a paper I was writing. That paper is cited at the bottom of the Intellipedia page. Acadac 16:16, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I did some counting on the Image:Complex-adaptive-system.jpg page and found about 468 other pages. This made we wonder if I shouldn't apply for a featured picture status. Unfortunately I don't now much about this. What I do know is that it is a very nice piture to work with: large, small and even smaller.
I also now that there are little illustrative pictures in the field of systems theory. It's one of these fields where people meanly rely on words to express one selve. This always keeps me wondering. But I'm still very happy with the picture, so thanks again. I enjoyed reading (some of your) article as well. Before that I had now idea the the intelligence-community is working in a wiki-way as well. - Mdd 23:34, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your message on my talkpage[edit]

I presume you're referring to my deletion of Elizabethgilbert.com. You're welcome. Tonywalton Talk 17:05, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 21:06, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lorenzo Snow[edit]

Just FYI, Lorenzo Snow is from Mantua Township, not the village of Mantua. Mantua village didn't exist while he lived in Mantua Township and was founded later (late 1840s) as "Mantua Station". Even today, the home he grew up in is located in Mantua Township, which can also be referred to (and historically was) simply as "Mantua". Lorenzo and Eliza Snow are listed as notable residents of Mantua Township. This was discussed at Talk:Mantua, Ohio#Lorenzo Snow back in 2009. --JonRidinger (talk) 18:49, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
